Hi, I'm Elvan Kama Kurtz, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Pennsylvania and the founder of Praxis Relationship Therapy. I work with adult individuals and couples who feel stuck in painful relationship patterns and want real, meaningful change.
My professional journey began with a double major in Psychology and Sociology at Koc University Istanbul, Turkiye and continued with my master's degree in Family Therapy at Drexel University in the United States. I've spent over a decade working with individuals and couples navigating communication breakdowns, sexual intimacy issues, betrayal trauma and affair recovery, depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, workplace and caregiver burnout, parent and adult child relationship dynamics, parents trying to conceive, narcissistic abuse recovery, and complex relationship challenges.
The word praxis means turning theory into practice, and that's exactly how I approach therapy. In our work together, we don't just talk about your relationships. We actively work on them.
I'm bilingual in English and Turkish, and as a dual citizen of Turkiye and the U.S., I warmly welcome clients from diverse cultural and relational backgrounds. I offer telehealth across Pennsylvania and in-person sessions in Swarthmore.
I'm a proud mom of two rescue dogs, powered by coffee, great music, and dark humor. I have huge respect for art and artists, and an endless curiosity about the world. I truly love traveling and meeting people from different cultures and learning their stories along the way!

These experiences have shaped my client-centered, practical, and empathetic approach to therapy.
Therapy sessions with me tend to feel more casual in nature and use everyday language (no psychological jargon). While therapy is a serious matter and we will talk about serious subjects, it should never be a time that either of us dread. I believe in taking time to learn about, or help you discover, hobbies and parts of life that you enjoy. I take time to help you develop more personalized coping skills and problem solve using your strengths. So, whether you're feeling overwhelmed, seeking tools to manage emotions, or navigating complex mental health challenges, I'm here to support you in creating meaningful, lasting change.
I have provided counseling & therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in various settings including schools, group homes, residential treatment facilities, in-office, in-home and virtually.

In 2006, I moved to Philadelphia, PA, and earned my M.A. in Counseling Psychology & School Counseling from Rosemont College in 2009. During my two practicum experiences, I worked primarily with children and adolescents with a variety of behavioral and mental health issues. I was a guidance counselor at Jack M. Hi, I’m Erica, a therapist in the Philadelphia area who believes healing is rarely neat, linear, or Instagram-perfect. My approach blends evidence-based tools with an honest appreciation for how complicated, funny, painful, and beautiful being human can be.
I offer a grounded, judgment-free space for people who want to understand themselves better, break old patterns, or simply breathe a little easier.
As someone living with a disability, I don’t use the word “resilience” lightly. I understand what it means to navigate life with both strength and limitation, and I bring that lived insight into my work—not as a badge of honor, but as a way of connecting with people from a place of truth. I show up as a therapist, yes, but also as a real person who knows what it feels like to keep moving even when things are heavy.
Everyone deserves a journey of self-healing and self-discovery. In fact, allowing yourself to blossom is the avenue to experiencing self-love and meaningful connections with others.

All behavior is purposeful. This means that we never do anything for no reason. Even when our behavior appears confusing or counterproductive to our values, our behavior has meaning and purpose. Therapy is a setting where we can gain insight about the origins of our perceptions, thinking and behavior. With clearer understanding, we are better equipped to identify factors within our control and consider alternative responses to our conditions. We gain awareness of the needs that are being met by potentially self-defeating thinking or behaviors and have a special opportunity to practice new thinking in the safety of therapy.

Hi, I'm Melanie! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 27 years of experience as a clinician in a variety of settings. Whether you need to work through some heavy stuff from the past that's been weighing you down or you just want to process some day-to-day work or relationship stress, therapy can be a major step in the right direction toward self-care!
Prior to starting my private practice I was working for the Veterans Health Administration and I remain passionate about continuing to be an advocate for Veterans to educate them about and link them to resources and services that are available to them.
I’m a therapist who believes mental health care should feel approachable, supportive, and grounded in genuine human connection. My style is warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I aim to create a space where you can speak openly, feel understood, and explore challenges without pressure or pretense. Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you, but about helping you better understand yourself, your experiences, and your patterns.
A balance of empathy and practicality shapes my clinical work. I integrate evidence-based techniques with authentic, real conversations. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, relationship challenges, or life transitions, we work together to build insight, coping skills, and emotional resilience.
In addition to my therapy work, I also work as an ICU nurse, which has deeply influenced my perspective on stress, trauma, and the complexity of being human. That experience allows me to bring a grounded, compassionate, and realistic understanding of life’s pressures into the therapy room.
Outside of work, I value quiet, restorative time. I enjoy working out, staying active, and taking care of my own well-being. I love spending time at home with my husband and our pets, and I’m a big fan of unwinding with a good movie. I believe balance, connection, and moments of calm are essential — not just luxuries — and I often help clients explore how to build more of that into their own lives.
I'm so glad you're here. It's such a crucial step you've taken, and I honor you for placing your health at the top of your list today! I came to clinical social work after many years of engagement in other fields, so I feel a connection with your efforts to find the right situation and therapist for yourself in this moment. I believe that we are innate experts of our experience, and also that an outside voice and companion can be critical during moments like you may find yourself in now. I believe that therapy is an opportunity to explore not just the areas that are hard for us, but also to expand into the areas that bring joy, light, support and growth. Thank you for considering me as an ally and co-collaborator!
