I am a licensed counselor with over 20 years of experience, in a variety of settings, in the counseling profession. I pride myself on quickly building client rapport to be able to get therapeutic work started right away. My approaches emphasis client centered, solution focused counseling with cognitive behavior therapy techniques. I use evidence-based techniques to facilitate change, promote self-awareness, and help clients develop coping skills.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is a chance to get know you and ask me questions to help you understand my role as your therapist. This session consists of a lot of questions and sometimes assessments to help me understand your mental status coming into therapy. All I ask is for open, honest answers so we can start to determine what the next steps are to help you feel better.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My goal is for clients to feel comfortable opening up and realize that therapy is about being able to be vulnerable with someone who can help you reach your goals. I have been told I am easy to talk to and build rapport quickly with clients. I consistently say my job is for my clients to not need to me so let's start the work right away so you can begin to move forward with your life!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented therapeutic approach that focuses on the interplay between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I use assessment to identifying negative thought patterns and problematic behaviors. In our session will then take a look at strategies, techniques, and skills for implementing change. The client will practice exercises on their own to promote reinforcement.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a goal-oriented, strengths-based approach that focuses on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. In sessions we will establish goals, identify exceptions, assess progress through scaling, highlight strengths, explore solutions, and empower self-efficacy.
