I believe therapy should provide more than a place to talk. It should help you understand what is happening, why it is happening, how it is affecting your life, and how to develop healthier ways of responding. I work predominantly with adult men experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, burnout, depression, and major life transitions. My approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and tailored to your individual goals, with an emphasis on the whole person rather than simply treating symptoms.
I have worked in the counseling field for more than 14 years across a variety of settings and have been a licensed professional counselor since 2015. I earned my Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University, as well as a Master’s in Religion and Christian Leadership, which provides additional preparation for clients who want to explore spiritual concerns or integrate their Christian faith into counseling.
I returned to school after getting married and having children, so I’m no stranger to balancing responsibilities, relationships, and stress. Those experiences have helped shape my belief that our mental and emotional health cannot always be separated from the other areas of our lives. Relationships, physical health, work, responsibilities, values, and spiritual concerns can all influence how we experience and respond to life's challenges.
My goal is to help you develop greater insight, build resilience, improve your emotional and relational well-being, and make meaningful changes that carry into everyday life. I would be honored to be invited into your story.

JMN Oasis Counseling, LLC. has a deeply personal meaning to me. The letters JMN represents three deceased loved ones who were near and dear to my heart—my brother, father, and mother. Their lives and the impact they had on me continue to remind me of the importance of showing up for others, especially during difficult seasons of life.
My approach is warm, genuine, and collaborative. I believe therapy is not about telling you what to do; it is about helping you better understand yourself, identify what is holding you back, develop healthier coping strategies, and discover the strength you already possess.

From my journey, I can personally attest to the power of support, in its many forms. This support goes beyond clients I service but also to their families and communities. I believe that mental wellness isn’t just individualistic; but includes the ecosystem surrounding the person. My praxis acknowledges and aims to support the village needed by all.
I’m also passionate about the transformative impact of safe and brave spaces for those who often experience exclusion. My career has afforded me opportunities to build trust with LGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, Latina/o/x, and Refugee communities across the nation. It is a personal privilege to center wellness and holistic care for all as ‘self-care is a radical form of resistance.’

I believe healing begins with feeling seen, heard, and understood. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I create a space where clients can show up as they are without judgment and begin exploring the thoughts, experiences, and patterns that shape their lives. My approach blends insight, practical tools, and genuine conversation to help clients build self awareness, strengthen relationships, and move toward the version of themselves they want to become. I'm Malanne, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and founder of SlateCole Counseling and Consultation. I work with high-functioning women, couples, caregivers, and fellow helping professionals; the people who keep everyone else's world running while quietly running on empty themselves.
My path into this work wasn't purely academic. Before opening my own practice, I spent years in child welfare, foster care, residential treatment, and school-based mental health, settings that taught me how much people can carry while still showing up, still functioning, still holding it together for everyone watching. I've also walked my own path as a wife, mother, entrepreneur, and cancer survivor, and I know firsthand what it means to keep caring for others while learning to care for yourself too. I bring that lived understanding into the room alongside my clinical training.
I'm the author of 31 Days to a Merry Modern Marriage; and relational healing, whether within a marriage, a family, or a friendship with yourself, is at the center of how I practice.
In session, I'm warm, direct, and practical. I don't believe therapy should feel clinical or distant, and I don't believe you have to hit a breaking point to deserve support. My approach draws on CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care, but the real work is helping you feel less alone in what you're carrying, and giving you real tools to carry it differently, or set some of it down.
