LPC, 26 years of experience
New to Grow
Hello, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor providing mental health services to clients in need for over 15 years in the state of Alabama. I am passionate and committed to the field of mental health. I understand clients' struggle grappling mental health issues because of my own experience managing family members with symptoms of mental illness. My path as a mental health provider became clear. After getting my master's degree in Community Agency Counseling, I sought experience in multiple settings to master the skills to provide care to diverse populations of clients. I have spent years serving clients in an acute hospital, community agency and in post-secondary counseling settings. I am highly skilled using person centered approaches to assist clients with a variety of mental health disorders.
In our first session clients will be introduced to me and my treatment approach. Clients will be informed about the components of the counseling process including informed consent information, expectations and limitations of confidentiality, treatment goals and length of care. Client will have an empathetic, safe and secure space to communicate their needs without judgement.
My approach as mentioned is person-centered using skills obtained from CBT, CPT and Acceptance therapies. My care and personality are unique because I made it my goal to learn how to connect with people regardless of their ethnicity, age or beliefs. My own personal exposure to mental illness before my career started guided me to become a professional care provider and an advocate to those in need of understanding and skilled effective care.
I am comfortable with providing clinical services to a diversified population of clients. I have experience addressing the clinical needs of male and female adults of all ages, teenagers between to ages of 16-18 years old. I have the skills to assist with the treatment of anxiety disorders, mood disorders, grief and loss, relationship problems, low self-esteem, anger management, and changes of life issues.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions are utilized in my practice for several years in community agency, acute care and post-secondary counseling settings to assist clients in the development of effective treatment interventions to achieve symptom reduction and mood stability.
