Welcome!! I am Carolyn Adams. I am a dedicated and compassionate clinician with a heart-felt commitment to foster change in individuals lives. I have worked with individual adults and families. Many of my clients are new to therapy and comes from diverse backgrounds. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space to help you work through the challenges that may be showing up in your life. My goal in therapy is to help you identify and change unhealthy emotions, thoughts and behaviors that may be keeping you stuck.
Counseling can foster personal development and insight into whatever you may be seeking to build the life you desire to experience. I am here to serve you when you are ready. At the first session I will provide an explanation of session purpose and structure. I like to start by understanding and invite you to share your reason for seeking therapy, what you're hoping to get out of therapy and and asking some questions to get a better understanding of your situation.
I am goal oriented and focused on the desired outcome of the client. I enjoy being able to connect by providing comfort, empathy and humor. I am compassionate and transparent. Therapy is a mutual relationship and I desire to seek understanding where the client is and foster confidence, patience and genuine high regard for the client. I have used Cognitive Behavior and Solution Focused Approach to therapy with other modalities based on the client needs and situation. Cognitive Behavior Therapy helps clients challenge negative thoughts and develop healthier coping mechanisms and Solution-Focused helps clients define and achieve specific goals.
Are you having difficulty communicating your needs and managing healthy relationships? Are you an adult feeling overwhelmed by workplace conflicts? Are you seeking ways to manage anxiety and regain control? I have helped clients increase their relationship readiness skills, develop assertive communication skills, conflict and collaboration skills, build resilience, and manage anxiety. Together we can explore personalized techniques to help you feel calmer, more focused, and ready to navigate life's challenges with confidence.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been using CBT for the past five years. It has help clients reduce their symptoms of anxiety and challenge reoccurring thoughts. We will use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings and behaviors influence each other. We will then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you manage your anxious thoughts and lead to less stressful experiences.
