LMFT, 5 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi! I am D'Andra. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino. I believe that speaking openly about mental health helps us connect more deeply with ourselves, and with others. Life can be incredibly tough, and navigating it alone while trying to unlearn survival patterns is even harder. I’m here to walk alongside you, helping you identify what’s no longer serving you and supporting your growth.
In our first session, I’ll walk you through the therapy process and provide the information you need to make informed decisions. I know that opening up to a stranger can feel scary, which is why I focus on creating a warm, supportive, and safe space where you can talk about the issues that matter most to you. We'll collaborate to identify goals that feel right for you. You don’t need to have it all figured out; you just need to be willing to start.
One of my strengths as a therapist is my ability to bring honesty and transparency into the room while also creating a space that feels warm, safe, and supportive. Whether it’s your very first time in therapy or you’ve been through it before, my goal is to create a space you want to come back to—a space that feels like it’s for you where you do not have to mask.
I work with individuals and couples who feel stuck in patterns like people-pleasing, low self-esteem, or unresolved relationship conflict. Maybe you are someone who has spent years in survival mode, juggling school, work, family, and/or complex relationships stuck in the same exhausting patterns. On the outside, maybe you are always keeping it together, but on the inside, you feel exhausted, disconnected, or constantly putting others first. If you are seeking freedom from generational patterns, self-doubt, and emotional exhaustion, I want to help. I also have a special interest in Black and Brown women's mental health.
Therapy is no one-size-fits-all. I use different methods to help you achieve your goals, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and attachment based therapies. I also always lead through a trauma informed lens. By combining these methods, I guide clients in connecting their mind, body, and emotions, and support them through their healing journey with compassion and insight.
With ACT, I aim to help clients embrace their thoughts and feelings, commit to actions aligned with their core values, and adapt to life's inevitable challenges.
I use CBT tools to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, which can lead to different ways of thinking and behaving. I use this method to compliment our work together and further name and change unhelpful thinking patterns, when appropriate.
I use attachment-based therapy theories to help individuals gain insight into the impact of early relationships on their emotional bonds and behaviors, which can increase our self-awareness.
I prioritize the tenants of trauma informed care in all of our work, no matter the modality. These include safety, trustworthiness and transparency, empowerment and collaboration. I have also completed the Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist - Individual training through Arizona Trauma Institute.
