My name is Ashley Perkins, LCSW and I have an intensive background working and serving my community. My educational background is BA Sociology from UC Riverside and MSW from Columbia University. I have worked closely in community activism, community organizing, women's health, mental health, and herbalism. I am a public speaker, community event planner and organizer, radio/podcast personality, tv personality, and herbalist. Empowerment is my approach to every avenue that I interact with, and therefore I believe that everyone can achieve growth if that is what they truly wish to achieve and work towards. I have lived and worked in different areas of the United States and have also lived abroad while working within the field of herbalism.
In our first session we will discuss motivations for therapy, current issues/concerns with life, and goals for therapy. We will also discuss my role as a provider as well as my standards for communication regarding policy, and overall expectations for service.
I work primarily with adults seeking practical tools, meaningful insight, and lasting personal growth. My approach blends evidence-based practices—including Motivational Interviewing, grounding techniques, mindfulness, and reality testing—with thoughtful conversations about spirituality, purpose, and the ways our beliefs and lived experiences influence our mental well-being. Therapy is always client-centered, and spiritual conversations are incorporated only if they align with your values and goals. I have a special passion for supporting women during pregnancy and the postpartum journey as they navigate identity shifts, changing relationships, body image, emotional wellness, and the transition into new roles. I also enjoy working with individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, life transitions, burnout, perfectionism, executive functioning challenges, and difficulty maintaining motivation.
I specialize in helping women navigate the seasons of life that leave them feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of who they are becoming. Many of my clients are professionals, entrepreneurs, caregivers, creatives, or new mothers who are juggling countless responsibilities while quietly struggling with anxiety, procrastination, burnout, executive functioning challenges, or major life transitions. My approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based psychotherapy. Together, we'll identify the patterns keeping you stuck, strengthen your ability to regulate emotions, clarify your values, and create realistic strategies that support lasting change. I integrate grounding techniques, reality testing, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and client-led conversations around spirituality when those topics are meaningful to your healing. As a woman of African diaspora heritage, I strive to create a culturally responsive, affirming environment where people from all backgrounds feel respected, understood, and empowered to grow. Therapy with me is not about perfection—it's about helping you reconnect with yourself, move with intention, and build a life that feels authentic, balanced, and fulfilling.
My practice focuses on providing compassionate support while helping clients create meaningful, lasting change. Sessions are centered on grounding, emotional regulation, reality testing, and developing practical strategies to navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and clarity. Using a collaborative, strengths-based approach, I incorporate Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help clients better understand patterns that may be keeping them stuck. While every client receives empathy, encouragement, and validation, therapy also emphasizes building skills, increasing self-awareness, and creating realistic action steps between sessions. My practice is best suited for individuals seeking short-term, goal-oriented therapy to address anxiety, life transitions, identity shifts, executive functioning challenges, postpartum adjustment, stress, and personal growth. Together, we'll work toward helping you feel more grounded, aligned with your values, and equipped to move forward with purpose.
Will focus on individualism and strengths to reach personal goals, or begin organizing one's life in a way that will assist in achieving personal goals. This is a short term therapy style.
Focuses on behaviors, the things/actions that we can control within our own lives. This is a short term therapy style.

I had my toddler home with me unexpectedly during our session. Ashley was really flexible in working with me while I was parenting. It was not ideal, but she was super patient with the situation. Just to be clear, I am not recommending doing sessions while parenting.
