My name is Ashley Perkins, LCSW and I have an intensive background working and serving my community. My educational background is BA Sociology from UC Riverside and MSW from Columbia University. I have worked closely in community activism, community organizing, women's health, mental health, and herbalism. I am a public speaker, community event planner and organizer, radio/podcast personality, tv personality, and herbalist. Empowerment is my approach to every avenue that I interact with, and therefore I believe that everyone can achieve growth if that is what they truly wish to achieve and work towards. I have lived and worked in different areas of the United States and have also lived abroad while working within the field of herbalism.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we will discuss motivations for therapy, current issues/concerns with life, and goals for therapy. We will also discuss my role as a provider as well as my standards for communication regarding policy, and overall expectations for service.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As your provider I want for you to know that you have a safe space to discuss your life, and your unique needs. I understand that not everyone is of the same background or belief system, and am open to learn about how you experience life. I will not try to dictate what your goals should be for therapy, but rather am here to support you. I will however challenge you. I also value your privacy.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My speciality within the field of mental health is "Grounding Therapy", to which I am here to assist you with returning back to your sense of "Baseline" or your "normal". Basically you work with me for a short period of time where we will work on reconnecting back to self, regaining control, and realigning back with your goals. We will explore some past issues only when relevant to assisting us in achieving our immediate goals. This type of therapy is best for clients who are struggling with making healthy choices in life, who feel they are in a rut, or are experiencing a transition or transitions and need to gain back power. My therapy style is not as concerned with a mental health diagnosis, but rather the everyday behaviors and choices that unfold into our lives. This therapy style is not suitable for people experiencing extreme traumas or mental health issues, and are in need of intense or long term treatment.

Ashley is very warm, open minded, authentic, direct, intelligent and humorous. She really hears what is being said. I was extremely comfortable. Ashley knew just how to communicate with me to-the point where it made it easy for me to open up and say anything right away. Great suggestions and direction. I have never felt more comfortable.

Really enjoyed my first session with Ashley Perkins, she was really easy to talk to and understand some of the things that I’m going through. I’m excited to talk to her more and for her to be my therapist moving forward.
