I have been a licensed psychologist since 1978 and worked in Oregon, North Dakota, California, and Hawaii. I have worked in mental health centers, state Hospitals, county welfare, child protective service agencies, the prison system, and hospital emergency room, as well as having a private practice since 1981. I am experienced with the mental health and social issues associated with individuals involved in the criminal justice system, and the families of such persons. I have testified as an expert witness on many occasions in child custody, child welfare, and mentally disordered offender court proceedings. I also retired from Santa Rosa Junior College after teaching for many years. I have been married for 35 years, we have a son and a beautiful 2-year-old granddaughter. I live in Northern California and Hawaii, where I hope to eventually retire.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My goal would be to first familiarize myself with the client and their issues and help clarify the psychological issues that have may have initiated the client's decision to seek help. Once clarified, I would educate the client about the pertinent issues and work on developing solutions that will assist them in dealing with their issues.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I use cognitive behavioral techniques, as well as client-centered approaches and rational emotive-type counseling. I tend to focus on solution-related treatment and can offer psychological evaluations online as resources to assist in developing a treatment plan.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe my major strength is that after more than 45 years as a psychologist, I have seen almost everything and try to be a calming and supportive influence in my client's life. I try to use humor as appropriate and acceptance of ones one strengths and weaknesses. I try to be true to the essence of the Serenity prayer: God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve
