(he/him)
Hello! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in California. I received my Master's from the University of Southern California (USC). I have worked in this field for over ten years with diverse populations and age groups. My goal as a therapist is to help clients become the best versions of themselves by developing an effective treatment plan and working through the challenges they face in their daily lives.
In the first session, I will share with clients my background in the field and relevant experience. I will then allow the client to share their reasons for seeking therapy, presenting issues/symptoms, and other information which will allow me to be most effective in my interactions with them. I will gather information from them in order to develop a general treatment plan to address the issues which they share. I will also review confidentiality/limits of confidentiality and discuss scheduling for future sessions.
My client-centered approach allows me to form a collaborative team with my clients in order to ensure the treatment plan we develop is practical and effective, fostering client growth and resulting in positive change in their lives. I am committed to each and every one of my clients and I want them all to achieve the life satisfaction and happiness they deserve.
I have experience working with clients aged 18-98 in a variety of settings to address a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, coping with chronic disease/new diagnoses, as well as end-of-life issues.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is used with my clients to help increase awareness of thoughts and feelings influencing unwanted/undesirable behavior. Once awareness is increased, a focus can be placed on how to change these thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, resulting in better self-control, self-awareness and self-satisfaction.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing is a client-centered approach used to help my clients resolve ambivalence they have with change. This conversational approach can help my clients strengthen their own motivation for change and empower them to think differently about their own strengths, resulting in better confidence and positive outcomes.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
This approach is used with my clients to help set short-term goals and then create realistic, achievable steps to reach these goals. As each goal is accomplished, positive momentum and confidence is created, enabling bigger, long-term goals to be set and accomplished.
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation as an intervention helps my clients by providing clear information to patients, and families, about mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, in order to better understand the most effective ways to address issues based on a personalized treatment plan for each client.
Strength-Based
This empowerment approach is used with my clients to identify the strengths and assets they possess, in relation to self-described challenges/problems. By focusing on strengths, rather than self-perceived deficits, a clients situation can be reframed in a way that places them in a position of power and control in their lives, allowing for positive change to take place.
