I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I graduated from National University in 2016 with a masters in counseling with an emphasis for Marriage Family Therapy. I have been practicing in the mental health field since 2015. I have worked in the schools as a school based therapist, I have worked in county mental health, and in hospital settings. I have worked with all ages of clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together we will start by getting to know each other. I will provide you with active and reflective listening as you share what concerns you are coming to therapy for. Once learning your concerns we will collaborate on the best goals to help support you through your therapy journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a wide range of clients over the last 10 years. I have developed a passion to helping and supporting my clients with their mental health needs.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help my clients become more aware of their inaccurate or negative thinking so I can help them view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I don't necessarily do DBT therapy but I teach the skills associated with DBT such as mindfulness, distress tolerance skills, emotional regulation skills, interpersonal effectiveness skills so my clients can better regulate and manage symptoms of difficult emotions.

Motivational Interviewing

I use this to help create a supportive environment where my client can explore their own motivations for change. They learn to identify discrepancies between their current behavior and desired goals. They will ultimately build their own commitment to taking action, rather than being pushed by external pressure. I do this by proving my client with active and reflective listening, open ended questions, reflections, and summaries, allowing my clients to feel heard and empower them to make positive changes themselves.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I guide my clients through an experience of feeling deeply listened to, understood, and accepted without judgemwnt. I allow my clinet to explore their thoughts and feelings openly in a safe place, ultimately leading to self discovery and personal growth. I focus primarily on reflecting back your emotions and experiences rather than offering direct advice or solutions. I empower my client to navigate their own healing process at their own pace.

Psychoeducation

I actively educate my clients about their specific mental health conditions, including symptoms, treatment options, and coping mechanisms. This helps empower my clients to better understand and manage their mental health concerns, leading them to improved treatment adherence ans overall well being.
