About me

My objective is to provide you with realistic tools for problem solving stressors, while reconnecting you to what truly matters in your life. My background in trauma work allows me to incorporate evidence-based interventions and techniques to help adjust your thoughts about yourself and to minimize unhelpful habits that are keeping you from feeling whole. I incorporate grounding work as a way to connect mind, body, heart and spirit, and foster a sense of hope. I have been told I am "Minnesota nice". I am a strong listener and lead with empathy, as I believe a trusting relationship aids in your healing. I have over 12 years of experience working in the social services field in various settings. My clinical training and experience is directly related to crisis intervention and trauma-informed therapy.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

You're human, so stress is inevitable! It's not about how to eliminate stress, it's about how to RESPOND. Most of my clients are able to implement tangible grounding tools in their 1st month of therapy. it's about learning how to hold space and compassion for yourself...where you are at. My clients can expect to leave each session feeling empowered and aware of which "step" we are on, on the path to achieving their overarching goal. My clients can expect to "check in" monthly to ensure we are working as effectively as we can, to promote fulfilling change.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I meet my clients where they are at each day and respect their autonomy. I am creative and believe there are many different ways to work through problems, no matter what is brought to the table. I am kind, open, honest and compassionate. I gently challenge when necessary, while also providing space for free thoughts and discoveries.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work well with adult women and men who are struggling with anxiety, depression, identity, self-esteem, interpersonal relationships and chronic stress. I have also worked in college settings with art students struggling with life transitions, career, perfectionism and burnout. I work well with people who are motivated and interested in learning and implementing coping skills. I am familiar with working with veterans and substance use.

My treatment methods

Humanistic

I am an active listener and focus heavily on building trust and transparent communication so that my clients know they are in the driver seat of their care. I don't believe in a "one size fits all" in therapy. We will work together creatively to find the best approach for you.

Brainspotting

I offer Brainspotting as a way to process underlying stress (often derived from trauma) . Brainspotting assists in somatic processing, regulating the nervous system and supports the rewiring of our thoughts/emotions that keep us stuck in unhelpful patterns.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is crucial for addressing unhelpful thoughts/emotions that we don't realize play a huge role in how we view ourselves, others and the world. Having a safe place to process and dissect these thoughts will allow us freedom to change them. I use evidence-based interventions and leave you with practical tools to support you with reframing thoughts and supporting emotional health.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I apply evidence-based practices to support my clients with emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness tools and mindfulness practices. These will support you in reclaiming your power and leave you feeling confident, healthy and whole.
