My name is Ashley Morgan. I am an LCSW by profession, and a mother, wife, daughter, friend, lover of the outdoors, horse girl and forever life learner by creation. I was drawn to a career in mental health due to my awareness and involvement with mental health crises from a young age. Pursuing my graduate degree in social work, with an emphasis in mental health, only strengthened my passion for working with others along their mental health journey. I have professionally been working in the mental health field as an LCSW for over ten years and still find my work extremely gratifying and fulfilling. I believe it is truly a privilege to work alongside individuals as they are experiencing some of their most vulnerable moments in life. I enjoy working with individuals ranging in ages from 12 to 90, as well as working with families. I utilize an eclectic approach, drawing from various modalities, seeing the individual and their life situation as a whole. My goal is to provide a safe and comforting space where I can be an active supporter in helping you heal, learn and grow.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is often not the most fun and exciting session we will have together. This is a session where we will go over the ground rules of therapy, to make sure there is an open understanding and transparency. And then it sometimes can consist of a lot of questions and you telling me about what brought yourself to therapy. In the following sessions, we will begin diving deeper into different matters, developing goals to work towards, and making progress along your mental health journey.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I would describe myself as dynamic. Therefore I bring to the therapy table many different useful skills and approaches. I am able to sit, listen and hold space when needed. I am able to validate and not push when things are tender and timing is not right. But I can also be very solution focused and goal oriented when someone tells me they want to create change and see it through. I am not afraid to encourage a client to see a different perspective or try something new, if it seems it aligns with their goals. And I am definitely not afraid to celebrate your wins and accomplishments in life, no matter how big or small.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I really enjoy clients who are working through life challenges and transitions. Whether those life challenges are coming up during adolescence or in later years of life, I find it a privilege to learn from my clients during these moments and help them navigate their journey. In working with a client through life challenges and transitions, I am able to be solution focused, helping to identify main concerns and areas to create change, while holding a safe place and develop coping skills to work through scenarios that are out of their control. I am also able to help individuals navigate family dynamics that often come into play during life challenges and transitions.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I utilize an eclectic approach to psychotherapy. What this means, is I draw from a variety of therapeutic techniques and methodologies to best meet the needs of my clients. I believe this keeps my approach flexible, client centered, and holistic.

Attachment-based

When appropriate, it can be very useful to discuss attachment theory and the different styles that many of us have developed through our life journey. Understanding our attachment style can increase our self awareness, help to understand previous and current relationship patterns and experiences, and allow one to grow in healthy manner.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

Whether I am working with a five year old or an 18 year old, it can be crucial to involve a parent to ensure positive change is happening. I utilize child parent psychotherapy as a constructive way to bridge gaps, increase understanding and awareness for both parent and child, educate, help to repair misunderstandings and tension, and overall improve the relationship between parent and child.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)

Cognitive Behavioral therapy can be very useful when wanting to make changes to our thoughts patterns, understanding our feelings and changing our reactions to experiences. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy in an effective manner where it is easy to understand and utilize for my clients. It can be useful in understanding how our brains work and helping to create new health patterns.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a licensed clinical social worker, I feel it is my duty to aware and knowledgeable about different cultures. It my life long journey and privilege to continue learning from my clients, always gaining more knowledge and awareness. My hope is to create a safe place for my clients, where they can truly be themselves, while feeling validated and heard.
