New to Grow
Hi, I’m Jessica Shivers, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 13 years of experience supporting children, teens, adults, and families through life’s challenges. My passion for helping others began in the 11th grade when I took my first psychology class. I became fascinated by how people grow, heal, and overcome difficult experiences. I knew early on that I wanted to help others build the same sense of support, stability, and connection that I was fortunate to experience growing up with loving parents who guided and encouraged me throughout my life. Over the past 13 years, I’ve worked in community mental health, agency social work, intensive treatment foster care, case management, and behavioral health services supporting individuals and families navigating a wide range of life challenges. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the real-life obstacles people face and the resilience they bring to the healing process. As a wife, mother of two young children, and bonus mom to a preteen, I understand firsthand the joys, stressors, and complexities that come with balancing family, work, relationships, and personal well-being. My goal is to create a warm, judgment-free space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered to make meaningful changes.
During the first session, we will spend time getting to know each other and discussing what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, and what you hope to gain from our work together. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and share what you are comfortable with. Together, we will begin identifying goals and discussing how therapy can support you moving forward.
I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine partnership. My approach is compassionate, practical, and strengths-based. Rather than focusing solely on what’s wrong, I help clients recognize what’s already working and build upon those strengths. Clients often appreciate my ability to balance empathy with actionable tools. Together, we’ll explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck while developing realistic strategies you can apply in everyday life.
I am passionate about supporting adults who are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stress, depression, burnout, or major life changes. I also enjoy working with parents, women balancing multiple responsibilities, and foster, adoptive, and blended families. Drawing from both my professional experience and personal understanding of family life, I help clients build practical coping skills, strengthen resilience, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence. Whether you’re facing a difficult season or simply looking to grow, I strive to create a warm, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution Focused Brief Therapy to help clients focus on strengths, resilience, and achievable goals. Rather than focusing only on problems, we work together to identify what is already working and build on those successes. My approach helps clients create practical steps toward positive change and greater confidence in their ability to handle challenges.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together we identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop healthier ways of thinking and coping. I work with clients to build practical skills that help them manage stress, anxiety, depression, and everyday challenges more effectively.
