New to Grow
Hello, my name is Ann Legierski,LCSW. I am Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Palm. Springs, California. I have been a therapist for the past 14 years and currently I am providing therapy via Telehealth. I work with individuals and couples (adults, 18+) throughout the State of California. I specialize in treating anxiety disorders, trauma, depression and mood disorders, substance use disorders/addiction, self-confidence, relationship and family issues, medical problems. My practice also provides strong support to the LGBTQI community including gender identification and sexual orientation.
What you can expect from our first session together is that we will begin to develop a therapeutic rapport; to invite you to an atmosphere of open, honest communication and trust. I will also engage in an intake biopsychosocial assessment as a way to gain in-depth understanding about your life and for you to identify the event or series of events that motivated you to seek therapy through Grow. The first session will also include goal setting to identify a list of "SMART" goals (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound). This ensures that the objective are clear and the you understand what is expected and when. To help you reach your treatment goals and I might assign homework/ readings to help you gain insight and awareness.
As an older therapist, I bring a diverse professional and personal background that includes 20 years of recovery from alcohol. My own experience with therapy to heal and recover from addiction inspired me to go back to school and become a therapist. I can personally attest with certainty that therapy does work and I invite all my client to engage in therapy so that they too can learn how to change and live a life that is full of purpose and meaning.
I work with adults and couples ages 18 and above. I welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds, spiritual beliefs and practices, and sexual orientations. I respect cultural values, encourage clients to explore and understand the importance of becoming vulnerable during the therapeutic process. My eclectic style supports managing internal issues through the development of a sense of self based on personal values and interpersonal effectivenss. You will become aware of the value you have and how your value affects the world around you, which ultimately decreases anxiety and depression, and introduces a connection to your sense of purpose and value.
