Navneet Dhaliwal, DNP, FNP, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides comprehensive psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. She works with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and other mood disorders, trauma-related conditions, ADHD, sleep difficulties, emotional dysregulation, and substance use concerns. Her practice is centered on helping patients better understand what they are experiencing and creating a treatment plan that feels clear, practical, and individualized. Many people seek psychiatric care without knowing exactly what diagnosis fits. They may simply feel unlike themselves and struggle with symptoms such as overthinking, low motivation, poor concentration, burnout, mood instability, sleep disruption, or a limited response to previous medications. Navneet is known for taking a thoughtful, thorough approach that looks beyond surface-level symptoms. Rather than making assumptions too quickly, she focuses on understanding the whole person, including history, current stressors, patterns of symptoms, and treatment goals. She provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and supportive therapy, with care tailored to each patient’s unique needs. While she evaluates and diagnoses ADHD when appropriate, she also recognizes that many mental health conditions can overlap, which is why careful assessment is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning. Her style is collaborative, patient-centered, and educational. She takes time to listen closely, ask meaningful questions, and explain symptoms and treatment options in a way that feels easy to understand. Patients are encouraged to be involved in decision-making and never pressured into a treatment approach that does not feel right for them. Whether someone is seeking medication support, diagnostic clarification, or a second opinion, Navneet provides a welcoming and judgment-free space. Many patients leave the first appointment feeling relieved, better understood, and more confident because they finally have greater clarity and a practical plan for moving forward.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first visit is a conversation — not a test or an interrogation. You do not need to prepare anything in advance or know exactly what to say. Many people begin by saying, “I’m not even sure what’s wrong,” and that is completely okay. During the appointment, we will talk through what has been bothering you, how long it has been going on, and how it is affecting your daily life — including sleep, focus, relationships, mood, and motivation. We will also review any past treatment, therapy, or medications. My goal is to understand the full picture, not just assign a diagnosis. If a diagnosis becomes clear, I will explain what it means in simple, practical language and discuss the treatment options available. Medication is always a conversation, never a requirement. We will review benefits, risks, side effects, and alternatives so you can make an informed decision about what feels right for you. By the end of the session, you can expect to leave with: - A clearer understanding of what may be going on - Recommendations tailored to your needs and goals - A practical step-by-step plan for moving forward Many people feel relief after the first visit simply because things finally start to make sense. If you are unsure whether you need therapy, medication, or simply more clarity about what you are experiencing, that is exactly what this appointment is for.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is helping people make sense of symptoms that do not always fit neatly into a single diagnosis. Many individuals come in believing they are dealing with only anxiety or only ADHD, when in reality there may be overlapping concerns such as depression, burnout, trauma-related symptoms, sleep issues, or medication side effects. I take time to look at the full picture before recommending treatment, which often helps avoid unnecessary trial-and-error. I am known for being thorough, thoughtful, and practical in my approach. I listen carefully, ask detailed questions, and explain my clinical impressions in clear, straightforward language so patients understand why a treatment is being recommended, not just what the treatment is. This often helps people feel more informed, supported, and confident in the process. I am also very intentional with medication management. Rather than making rushed changes, I focus on careful adjustments, close follow-up, and treatment plans that are realistic and sustainable for everyday life, including work, school, relationships, and family responsibilities. Above all, I work to create a space where people feel comfortable being honest and understood. When patients feel safe, heard, and involved in their care, treatment tends to be more effective and progress can happen more quickly.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are adults who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally drained and want a clear path forward. I’m best positioned to support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, panic, PTSD, OCD/intrusive thoughts, mood instability, postpartum stress, sleep problems, or high stress from life transitions, relationships, school, or work. Many of the clients I work with are high-functioning on the outside but struggling internally—overthinking, feeling irritable, exhausted, unmotivated, or unable to “turn their brain off.” Others are tired of starting over with providers and want consistent care, practical tools, and a provider who follows through. I’m a strong fit for clients who want: * A warm, nonjudgmental space to be heard * A structured plan with realistic next steps * Evidence-based strategies (CBT/DBT-informed coping skills) * Thoughtful medication support when appropriate * Measurable progress in sleep, mood, anxiety, and daily functioning If you’re ready to understand what’s happening, build coping skills, and feel more stable and in control, we’ll work together to create steady, lasting change.

My treatment methods

Psychoeducation

Over the past seven years as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I have made psychoeducation a core part of my practice. I believe that when clients understand their symptoms and diagnoses, they feel more empowered, engaged, and confident in their treatment. Psychoeducation includes helping clients—and when appropriate, their families—learn about mental health conditions, available treatment options, and practical coping strategies. In sessions, I often discuss topics such as recognizing symptom patterns, medication purpose and side effects, lifestyle and self-care supports, and ways to strengthen daily functioning. This education can improve adherence and supports informed decision-making. I also focus on creating a collaborative, stigma-free space where clients can ask questions and share concerns openly. My goal is to normalize the healing process, reduce shame, and provide clear guidance that supports long-term recovery and wellness.

Navneet was amazing . She was unfortunately too far for me to see in person, which is what I really need at this time . She understood everything that I was looking for and needed. She has the knowledge and experience to put together the referrals that anyone would want to look in to. Thank You for the opportunity to get to talk with a therapist that I chose based on the information she provided.
