My name is Maria Vega and I am an LCSW. I have been practicing therapy for over 5 years now but have been in the social service field for over 10 years. I have experienced provided supportive therapy, CBT, and DBT to adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life transitions, and personality disorder. I love to provide psycho-education into coping skills, such as DBT mindfulness.
Seeking therapy can be an incredibly brave thing to do, as well as very scary and intimidating so clients can expect a gentle and supportive approach from me. The first session is to explore client's history and current symptoms, as well as expectations for therapy.
I have a wide range knowledge on different coping skills that can benefit clients who need tangible tools. I also have a lot of experience with mindfulness to guide clients who need to practice being more connected with their mind and body. I have a supportive and gentle approach, while also being able to gently guide client to reflect on their own behaviors.
I love to continue to work with adults who need guidance though life transitions, increasing their coping skills and managing their emotions.
I have used this talk therapy with most of my clients to help guide how their past experiences have influenced their current behavior.
I love the coping skills in DBT and believe everybody can benefit from mindfulness practices to improve stress reactions, relationships, and self-esteem.
Sometimes you need a space to explore emotions and thoughts, and with supportive therapy I am here to meet you where you are and gently guide you through the waves.
