Hi. I'm Josue. Nice to meet you. I am a generalist practitioner. During our sessions, we'll work at your pace and where you are emotionally. We'll utilize compassion and kindness in a safe setting, plus a mixture of mental health interventions. We'll set a goal and work towards achieving that goal. We'll challenge your negative thoughts. Don't worry, we don't have to delve deep into your past if you are not ready. Sometimes there is the need to process what you are going through at the moment and have someone to be there and listen - and that's okay. We can start there. You can expect to explore various aspects of your identity in a safe manner that works for you.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our first few sessions together we'll get an understanding of what brings you to therapy. I'll get to know more about you bit by bit and we'll come up with a "sketch" of the problem, which will become clearer in subsequent sessions. We will design a goal, which may change as therapy progresses. This goal will help keep us on track as we "unpack" and identify coping skills that you can practice and use outside of therapy.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
Sometimes it's difficult to identify the cause of the dysregulation in the emotions you experience, or it may be difficult to verbalize. Other times you might need skills to utilize after a session. Other times, you need someone to listen to you. We'll start where you are.
