(she/her)
I am Marilyn Rivas, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I began my journey as a social worker in 2012 and became licensed in 2018. I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves a safe, supportive space to heal and be understood. My approach is compassionate and collaborative, helping clients feel seen, valued, and empowered to create meaningful change in their lives. I’m dedicated to helping you reconnect with your authentic self and find balance, peace, and confidence as you move forward.
In our first session, we’ll start by getting to know each other and exploring what brings you to therapy. You can expect a calm, welcoming environment where you can share at your own pace. Together, we’ll identify your goals, discuss what you’d like to focus on, and begin creating a plan that feels supportive and tailored to your needs. My goal is for you to leave feeling understood, validated, and hopeful about the path ahead.
My greatest strengths as a therapist are my warmth, empathy, and ability to create a judgment-free space where clients feel safe being fully themselves. I take a collaborative approach, drawing from insight, reflection, and practical coping strategies to help you strengthen your sense of self and improve your relationships. I’m deeply open-minded and respectful of all experiences, including spiritual ones such as near-death experiences (NDEs). I believe that every story matters and that healing happens when you feel truly heard and accepted.
I work best with individuals who are ready to understand themselves on a deeper level, heal emotional wounds, and create positive change in their lives. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward. Together, we explore patterns, build self-compassion, and develop tools for lasting growth. Whether you’re navigating life transitions, relationship challenges, or seeking meaning after a profound experience, I’m here to support you in becoming who you want to be and creating the life you want to live.
Supportive
My approach to supportive psychotherapy is grounded in empathy, validation, and genuine connection. I help clients navigate life’s challenges by strengthening their coping skills, fostering self-awareness, and promoting resilience. Through gentle guidance, reflection, and encouragement, I support clients in managing stress, improving relationships, and building confidence in their ability to handle difficult emotions. Supportive psychotherapy allows us to work collaboratively—honoring your pace, experiences, and strengths—so that you feel safe, understood, and empowered throughout the process.
