LCSW, 5 years of experience
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Los Angeles who frequently uses Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I work collaboratively with adults, exploring ways to invigorate clients who are stuck creatively, relationally, professionally, emotionally, or are reacting in the present to a trauma that they have not fully processed (EMDR works well with this). I work effectively with clients experiencing a trauma response, professional malaise, writer's block, family issues, or a stagnant relationship. I work compassionately with the client to identify any dynamic that is no longer helpful, and together we explore the path to relief and a more connected and vibrant humanity.
I listen first and foremost, not just to the content but to the way the client relates their story. I take in their point of view with compassion and an understanding of the context. By the end of our first meeting, I suggest how the client and I might best work together to remove barriers to the client's growth. I value the transparency of the process. The client often reports relief and enthusiasm about going forward--an enthusiasm I always share.
I have a warm, direct communication style, and am often described as intelligent, inviting, and unfailingly nonjudgmental. I lead with my curiosity and compassion.
Though I'm comfortable with diverse clients, especially LGBTQI+ clients, I grew up in a big family of all straight people, so I relate to many orientations and genders, as well as big family dynamics and dysfunction. I am also a parent and work with the many challenges facing modern parents in this digital age. I like a client who is up for the self-exploration and the self-compassion needed to attract a more fulfilling career, a better relationship, or a more connected human existence. I do this through EMDR, IFS (Internal Family Systems), but I emphasize collaboration in finding what approach best works for the client's goals.
Trauma and complex trauma can be targeted with this treatment modality. EMDR can work well with a variety of presenting issues, including trauma-fueled substance use. It works well to reprocess any unpleasant experience that still lives with us and limits our present opportunities.
An important focus of IFS is to gain compassion for the parts of us that may be unwilling to allow change. Different phases of life invite us to greet the future with parts of ourselves that may not have been previously allowed to shine. In our sessions, we can explore the exciting challenge of rediscovering the true self and embracing previously hidden opportunities for connection.

Terrance is the best therapist I’ve had to date. He’s extremely thoughtful, patient, warm, compassionate, realistic, and extremely intelligent. He’s helped me survive & process the most difficult year of my adult life and come out more resilient and strong on the other side. I’ve got a number of therapists before him, and I’m very grateful to have found the right fit for me at this time in my life.
