My goals as a therapist are to help my clients recognize their capacity for self-sufficiency and self-advocacy, ultimately recognizing the power that they wield. This work is done through the development of a relationship based on acceptance, respect, and collaboration. My job is to help you navigate through the complexities of life so that we can understand the underlying factors that contribute to your current struggles. This understanding may pave the way for us to work towards decreasing the distress you may be experiencing and begin working towards healing the relationships that we have with ourselves and our community. I believe in making self-care a priority and want you to know that I'm proud of you for making the decision to include therapy as part of that process.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Client's can expect me to be respectful, empathetic, and supportive during the first session. My focus during that first session is to get a better understanding of why we are meeting and also encourage you to ask questions that will help you decide whether you want to choose me to help you on whatever journey you are on at this time.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am attentive, curious, and adept at being able to help clients recognize some of the underlying factors contributing to their sense of distress and dysfunction.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am focused on working with individuals trying to manage life stressors while also maintaining a quality of life that is worth living. My clients are generally students and professionals who have some level of insight related to how their mental health symptoms negatively impact their day to day. They are usually receptive to using self care behaviors to help promote their capacity and emotional resiliency.

My treatment methods

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is the gold standard treatment for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I work with clients by providing psychoeducation about OCD, I support clients with exploring the meanings associated with these intrusive thoughts, images, and urges, and then support clients by creating a systematic approach towards helping them decrease the distress associated with OCD symptoms and behaviors, exploring client value systems to help reinforce their rationale to not engage in their compulsive behaviors, and provide support in a non-judgemental and empathetic manner.
