Hi there, I’m DeNai. Do you find yourself overwhelmed, stuck or hopeless? In such times therapy can be deeply healing and transformative. I provide a safe, empathic and nonjudgmental space where we can work together to alleviate emotional suffering, identify strengths, change ineffective patterns and strengthen coping skills to make life meaningful and fulfilling. I specialize in working with individuals of all ages experiencing trauma, PTSD, grief, depression, anxiety and managing life transitions. Together, we will work at your pace to explore, understand and create positive change. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and communities. Helping people live a better life is my passion.
During our first session we will understand where you are now, identify the roadblocks and formulate goals. Through increasing your awareness of how you relate to yourself and others you will be able to navigate the challenges facing you. Increasing self-awareness, learning coping skills, and communicating feelings can lead to positive change and meaningful relationships. Together, we can help you get from where you are to where you want to be at your pace.
My strengths are being able to create a safe space where people are able to explore their inner world. With empathy and trained understanding, I'll help uncover relevant aspects of your story in order to make sense of the difficulties emerging in your life, your relationships, and your inner world .
CBT has often been helpful for my clients in challenging intrusive or unhelpful thoughts thereby increasing their capacity to manage their anxiety. Understanding the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviors will help you change your thinking patterns so you can lead a less anxious and stressed life.
A psychodynamic approach is another treatment method often helpful in enabling clients to increase their self-awareness and gain more control over their mental health. By examining unresolved conflicts and symptoms that arise from the past one can understand the link to current emotional challenges.
Narrative therapy is another method I utilize that helps clients gain an understanding of their own story and how their emotions, actions and problems fit into the context of the story. Through this self awareness one can become empowered to form a new narrative and see any problems as distinct from themselves.
