As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in California, I believe that therapy is team work and my goal is to create a safe space for people to share their concerns and goals. I have worked in the hospice field for many years and now I incorporate all that I have learned from this to help people improve their lives on a daily basis. My passion and compassion translate to a very dynamic and empowering therapy experience.
A first session is a meet and greet. Here we will learn some important things about each other and how we can work best together to achieve your goals. Meeting for the first time may be a bit intimidating, whether you have been in therapy before or if this is your first experience. I will do my best so that you feel comfortable and at ease.
I feel so fortunate to share my time, heart, skills, and passion for something I truly believe in. Therapy has helped me to grow in so many ways during difficult times in my life and I admire my clients who can acknowledge that we are all in this together and there is no benefit to trying to do everything alone.
I enjoy working with people who want to take an active role in therapy and are willing to do some deep diving in order to grow and recognize their own skills and strengths. Sometimes we forget about all the tools we have from our life experiences and need a helping hand to uncover them.
I have found that so many clients may have compassion for others in their lives but not for themselves. As a team we incorporate various healing modalities to address self compassion.
Many times in life we question where we fit in this world and why. As a team we can explore the "bigger picture" and deal with topics like isolation and loneliness, grief, loss and death.
I believe in a holistic approach to coping with issues and help clients explore the connection between mind, body, and spirit.
I believe that the expressive arts (e.g. poetry, writing, music, art) play a big role in understanding and healing ourselves. I will suggest certain poems, books, film, music and create a safe space to discuss the feelings that arise. I also encourage clients to tap into their own creativity and curiosity.
