Hello there! My name is Sarah. Life is filled with so many challenges, and many people experience a period of anxiety or depression at some point in their lives. If you are feeling overwhelmed and unsure where to turn, let's work together to figure things out! I use a collaborative approach to help people manage stress and avoid burnout. Together, we'll identify areas of your life that you want to improve, as well as the strengths that you want to expand upon and develop. While I consider you the expert of your own life, I will also offer my expertise, including different skills, strategies, and exercises that can be applied to your everyday life. Trying therapy for the first time can be intimidating, but I am here to walk you through the process! Your decision to engage in treatment is a testament to your strength, and I would be honored to help you along in your journey.
During our first session, I'll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, what you'd like support with, and any important parts of your personal history that may help me understand your experiences. There's no pressure to share everything at once—we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you! You'll also have the opportunity to ask me questions about my approach, the therapy process, and anything else that's on your mind. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I want you to feel informed and involved every step of the way. We will begin identifying your goals and discuss what you hope to gain from therapy, and maybe most importantly, this first meeting is an opportunity to see whether we feel like a good fit. Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process, and I encourage you to be open about what you need to feel supported.
I gravitate towards using Cognitive Behavioral approaches such as DBT and ACT, as well as Solution-Focused Therapy. I have an art therapy background and enjoy bringing creative elements into therapy to promote healing and help you gain insight. Regardless of the framework I am using, I will make sure to collaborate with you and aim to create a safe and trusting environment.
My specialties include working with depression, anxiety, and self-esteem. I have worked extensively with adolescents and young adults experiencing life transitions. Having worked in school-based environments for many years, I understand the pressures that young people are facing in today's world, and strive to empower them to find themselves and work through the challenges they are facing.
I am interested in working with adolescents and young adults (ages 14-30).
