Hello and Welcome. My name is Aneesa Enakaya-Ochoa and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The modality I use in therapy depends on the client. I pull from several modalities including Mindfulness, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe it is important to add a psycho-education/teaching portion to therapy to assist with learning and developing skills. We can practice developing these skills in session, also at times I may assign homework to allow you to continue processing in between sessions. Therapy is a fluid process, allow yourself to feel the ebbs and flows of this healing process.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

If you are seeking a non- judgemental therapist who will support you- while exploring your life experiences to gain a deeper understanding of yourself or life in general-- lets connect. Clients who work with me typically describe my style as Open, Challenging and Unstructured.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a short-term form of behavioral treatment. It helps people problem-solve. CBT also reveals the relationship between beliefs, thoughts, and feelings, and the behaviors that follow.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is a modified type of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Its main goals are to teach people how to live in the moment, develop healthy ways to cope with stress, regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships with others.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Culturally Sensitive Therapy is an approach that emphasize therapist understanding of the client's background and belief system as it relates to their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender and other elements that make someone's culture/identity.

Experiential Therapy

experiential therapy is patient-based. The principle behind the effectiveness of experiential therapy is that by re-enacting the experience in a safe and controlled setting, patients can release their repressed, negative emotions. In the place of these emotions, patients can experience love, forgiveness, and calmness, which can change their perception of reality.

Grief Therapy

Therapy for grief, or grief counseling as it is often called, is designed to help you process and cope with a loss — whether that loss is a friend, family member, pet, or other life circumstance.
