Hello and welcome! As a dual certified Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner, I view every client as a whole person—not defined by symptoms, but by their strengths, potential for growth, and the personal meaning they assign to their experiences. My specialties include mood and psychotic disorders, ADHD, dual diagnosis, and much more. I look forward to collaborating with you on your journey towards mental health.
I believe that you are the author of your own life. My goal is simply to create a safe space where you are seen, heard, and are equipped to make the right decisions for your mental health so you can live your best and most authentic life now.
Through my experiences, I’ve come to truly appreciate the intricate connection between the mind, body, social life, and spiritual self. I’ve learned that wellness is not just about physical health, but about nurturing each part of ourselves in harmony.
I am passionate about working with individuals across the lifespan and strive to create personalized treatment plans that honor each person’s cultural, social, economic, sexual, and spiritual values. Many come to me navigating a complex mix of emotions, searching for real understanding, and hoping to uncover the deeper roots of their challenges. My ideal clients are not only open to exploring medication as a supportive option, but also committed to doing the deeper work—engaging in therapy, building healthier coping strategies, and making meaningful lifestyle changes to support their mental well-being.
I often use this technique with clients struggling with addiction or who have difficulty managing their health. I believe all clients are autonomous and have ability to come to their own conclusions about the changes they want to make in their lives. My role is to help them move through the emotional stages of change necessary to find their motivation with empathy and compassion.
If I notice that my client is feeling overwhelmed during our session, I will incorporate mindfulness meditation into our session. Practicing mindfulness involves breathing methods, guided imagery, and other practices to relax the body and mind and help reduce stress.
When I work with clients, I consider the whole person which includes seeing their positive characteristics and potential for growth and understanding their personal sense of their behavior. My goal is to help them learn how to use their instincts to find wisdom, growth, healing, and fulfillment.
As a woman of color, I inherently understand how every individual's background and belief system as it relates to their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, or other important elements that make up someone’s culture and identity. Therefore, I know how to not only respect the differences in the opinions, values, and attitudes of various cultures but also provide the most effective treatment for a particular client.
