Hello, I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Virginia and Maryland. I received my Master's from Fordham University and Ph.D. from Liberty University. I enjoy helping clients rewire their brains and bodies to alleviate anxiety, relational conflict, depression, or trauma. My ideal clients often struggle to control their thoughts or behaviors and seek a deeper understanding of how to achieve lasting changes.

As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), I am dedicated to mental wellbeing, building resilience, healing attachment injuries, processing grief and overwhelming life events by connecting to our inner system. We will go beyond regular talk therapy and the usual coping skills that only address the symptoms and not the root cause. The most important step in therapy is to create a safe relationship between client and therapist, then, using modalities like Internal Family System (IFS), Brainspotting and Polyvagal theory to help alleviate symptoms from unresolved issues that remain present in our daily lives, and behaviors and thoughts that decrease our quality of life. I work with adults of all ages. I use trauma informed care with body and nervous system awareness. Learning and creating compassionate connections to your inner system and learning to release emotions through the body may lead to relief and healing. Like the movie, Inside Out or Inside Out 2, parts are like characters that have their own roles, emotions, beliefs and interactions with others. With time, parts work feels more comfortable and familiar and you can settle into your own system and internal experience. You will learn to notice your nervous system responses to different situations. “IFS is a loving way of relating internally (to your parts) and externally (to the people in your life), so in that sense, IFS is a life practice, as well. It’s something you can do on a daily, moment-to-moment basis—at any time, by yourself or with others.” ― Richard C. Schwartz, No Bad Parts: Healing Trauma and Restoring Wholeness with the IFS Model

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Virginia rather than a city like Richmond?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in Virginia. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Virginia from Norfolk to Roanoke! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Virginia.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on a specific issue?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What happens during the first therapy session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
