I have a heart for working with people as they find their way through difficult life transitions such as relationship challenges, work stressors, health issues, etc. When these core aspects of our lives change, we can feel confused, anxious, depressed, and unsure of our roles and identities. We grieve what we have lost and are uncertain of what lies ahead. Filtering out the noise of the outside world and listening to one's inner self helps you stay centered so you can make choices that align with your core values. As a certified EMDR therapist, I help people process trauma so they can stop feeling stuck and can move forward in their lives. I also use depth (Jungian) psychology to help people explore their inner worlds to reveal hidden fears, beliefs, shadow parts, dreams and creative impulses that lie under the surface of our conscious awareness. When brought to the light of consciousness, they can enrich our lives with insights and revelations that can help us realign with our core Self. I love working with those from minority groups who may not identify with the larger culture or fit into society’s categories, and are struggling with issues concerning identity, belonging, self-worth, cultural expectations and finding a sense of self in this complex and changing world. Therapy can help us find clarity and stability through change as we focus on what really matters.

If you are reading this, you might be exhausted from trying to hold it all together. Whether you are an adult dealing with constant overthinking, or a teenager trying to navigate a world that feels incredibly stressful, I want you to know one thing: this is a space to be yourself. You do not have to perform here. You do not have to put on a brave face, use perfect words, or have anything figured out. You can just show up, vent, and let the walls down. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and I have spent the last 10+ years working in community care, hospital crisis settings, and the juvenile justice system. Because of that background, I don't shock easily, and I won't panic if your life feels messy right now. I have sat with people through some of their darkest and most chaotic chapters. My goal isn't to judge you or give you a cookie-cutter lecture; it’s to provide a steady, calm, and grounded environment where you feel entirely safe. Whether you just need a dedicated place to talk, or you are ready to learn new ways to manage the heavy days, you don't have to do it alone. Let's get started.

I believe that healing and growth doesn't require perfection-it begins with curiosity. Therapy can be a place where you slow down, make sense of your experiences, and begin taking steps towards your best possible self. Having had a natural curiosity most of my life, I bring that aspect into my therapy work with clients. Don't worry, you will not be bombarded with 1001 questions, but a gentle form of interest, drives my work.

"One step, one step." So, this is a phrase I often say. I use it as a reminder that we will move forward, heal, achieve our goals one step, one moment at a time. If we feel or see ourselves slip back....we reset. We move forward again one step, one step. Wellness has always been a focus in my life's work. My expertise has allowed me to work with individuals from the African Diaspora, immigrant communities, various cultures, military and those diagnosed with chronic illness. I use a holistic approach, integrating modalities such as a Client-Centered approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused and Mindfulness to achieve your goals and build an empowered, stronger and healthier sense of self. I believe that collaborating with you as an individual, learning your strengths, challenges, and identifying key coping skills together we move towards your best strategies for wellness. You've made the leap in deciding on therapy, now let's keep the momentum with finding a therapist that is right for you, right now! I especially work with clients to explore recurring challenges related to anxiety, PTSD, depression, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients identify maladaptive patterns, develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. I strive to personalize and facilitate systematic, strategic, and effective support plans for individuals to achieve what they believe (or don't believe is possible) after a series of setbacks or interpersonal challenges. I am a goal-oriented clinician who comes alongside my clients to discover or re-discover the self that may have gotten muddled along the way. When feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands, unexpected transitions, and low energy to overcome mental health challenges or setbacks, I fervently adopt the coach and modeling posture that will help you to learn and use adaptive mental health tools that will promote renewal, clarity, and rhythmic motivation to take control of your whole health and wellness journey.

My journey into counseling began after witnessing how military service affected the emotional well-being and relationships of someone close to me. Approaching those changes with compassion and curiosity led me to study human behavior, and since then I have had the privilege of supporting domestic violence survivors, individuals involved in the court system, outpatient community mental health clients, residents in substance use and personality disorder treatment programs, and military personnel during my own time in service. Today, I continue to build on that experience through specialized training in relationship issues, anxiety, depression, and trauma, creating a supportive space where adults can heal, strengthen relationships, and move toward the life they want.

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need.

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs. Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
