Welcome! Iâm Katia Garcia, PMHNP-BC, a bilingual Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in psychiatric nursing, providing medication management for adults navigating anxiety, depression, sleep issues, life transitions, or ADHD. I specialize in evaluating whether medication may be helpful, starting treatment when appropriate, and monitoring your progress so you can begin feeling better safely and efficiently. As a Latina provider, I understand that culture, family expectations, and life stressors all play a role in mental healthâand treatment works best when it reflects your lived experience.

My approach to care is focused on thoughtful psychiatric evaluation and individualized medication management when appropriate. There is no one-size-fits-all treatment plan, and my goal is to help you better understand your symptoms, identify contributing factors, and determine whether medication may be a helpful part of your care. I work closely with patients to monitor how treatment is working over time, make adjustments as needed, and minimize unwanted side effectsâso that your care remains both safe and effective. Many patients begin to notice improvement in symptoms such as sleep, mood, focus, or anxiety within the first few weeks of treatment.
Iâm best positioned to work with adults who are seeking a psychiatric evaluation to better understand their symptoms and explore whether medication may be beneficial. This includes individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, attention or focus concerns, sleep issues, or emotional challenges related to life transitions. My services are especially helpful for those who are open to discussing treatment options, following up regularly to monitor progress, and working collaboratively to find the most effective medication plan when appropriate.
Supportive
Supportive therapy may be incorporated during medication management visits using CBT- and Motivational Interviewingâinformed techniques to help patients better understand symptoms, reinforce coping strategies, and support behavior change. These brief interventions are provided as part of psychiatric care and are not a substitute for ongoing psychotherapy. When more structured or specialized therapy is needed, appropriate referrals can be provided.
