Dr. Olivier Djoumessi
Struggling with focus, mood, anxiety, eating habits, anger, and alcohol or opioid use, and need care that fits a working schedule? I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (ANCC) with a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Texas at Arlington and 12 years in psychiatric care. ADHD is a big part of my practice. Whether you're wondering about it for the first time or want a second look at your current treatment, I take a thorough, careful approach, and we'll decide on next steps together. I excel in being patient, a listener, and showing empathy. I see patients (teenagers (13–17), adults (18–64), veterans, and LGBTQ+ folks) in person in Mansfield, TX, and virtually (Florida, California, Oregon, Colorado, Arizona, Maryland, Washington State, and other states), 7 days a week, with evening and weekends appointments until 9 PM.
Psychiatric care evenings and weekends, in English or French. My strengths include patience, active listening, and empathy, along with extensive knowledge in ADHD assessment.
My visits combine medication management with practical therapy tools, so you’re not just handed a prescription. You’ll always know why I’m recommending something, what alternatives exist, and what to expect next. I also offer care in French, for clients and families looking for a provider who can work with them in their own language. Je parle français.
First session
Our first visit is about understanding you. I’ll ask about your symptoms, history, and goals, and you’ll leave with a clear sense of next steps, whether that’s starting treatment, adjusting a current medication, or gathering more information. Please complete your intake form beforehand so we can spend our time on what matters most.
Strengths
I don’t just adjust doses. Each visit combines medication management with practical therapy tools, such as CBT techniques, mindfulness skills, and motivational interviewing, so you leave with strategies as well as a prescription. I explain my reasoning. You’ll know why I’m recommending a medication, what side effects to watch for, and how we’ll judge whether it’s working. You’re a partner in every decision. I have particular depth in ADHD: thorough evaluation, stimulant and non-stimulant options, and careful follow-up. I also bring years of experience with treatment that hasn’t worked before, whether that’s depression that hasn’t responded to earlier medications or a pattern of relapse in recovery.
Ideal clients
I’m a strong fit for teenagers (13–17), adults (18–64), veterans, and LGBTQ+ folks who: - Suspect ADHD or want a second look at their current ADHD treatment - Live with depression, anxiety, or panic that’s getting in the way of work, school, or relationships - Are managing bipolar disorder and want steady, consistent follow-up - Are in or seeking recovery from alcohol or opioid use and want medication-assisted treatment alongside psychiatric care - Have tried medications before without success and want a fresh, careful approach - Need appointments outside standard business hours I also have experience caring for veterans and for people living with PTSD and OCD.
Treatment methods
Motivational Interviewing
Medication management: Evidence-based prescribing, starting carefully and adjusting based on how you actually feel, with regular check-ins on benefits and side effects. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Practical skills for recognizing and changing the thought patterns that fuel anxiety and depression. Motivational Interviewing: A collaborative way to work through ambivalence about change, especially helpful in recovery and in building new habits. Mindfulness-based approaches: Tools for managing stress, racing thoughts, and sleep. Psychoeducation: Clear explanations of your diagnosis and options, so you can make informed decisions about your care.
