As a counselor, I aim to be a mirror for you to help you understand your thoughts, process your feelings, and see your patterns. I value collaborating with clients to build self-esteem, manage stress during challenges or transitions, and create healthier relationships. Common focuses include self-esteem, adjustment, communication, empathy training, strength identification, coping skills, trauma, stress management and career/school issues. I have experience working with a variety of diagnoses including anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, PTSD, OCD and ADHD. I operate from a person-centered framework and utilize CBT, narrative therapy, REBT and mindfulness techniques. I aim to be strength-based, flexible, empathetic, and open-minded in helping you create change.
The first session is all about getting to know one another. Together we can talk about what brings you into therapy, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. We will also chat about what your symptoms look like, your prior experiences in therapy, and what can expect if we work together. I am also happy to address any questions or concerns you might have.
Through empathy, creativity and authenticity, I hope to build a relationship with my clients that highlights trust, openness, and compassion. My goal is to create a nonjudgmental space for you and I to explore, so that you can build awareness and create change.
I value working with clients that are: - Going through life transitions (small or large) - Experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD and more - Processing trauma - Trying to get to know (and accept) themselves - Working to improve their mindset - Feeling stuck - Desiring better relationships And much more. Through my experience, I have worked with a diverse array of clients on a wide variety of issues. I uphold multicultural competency and am an LGBTQ+ ally. I enjoy working with creative professionals (musicians, artists etc), college students or post-grads, high school students, young and middle-aged adults, and more.
Person-centered therapy is my favorite because it focuses on collaboration, nonjudgmental listening, and empathy. Essentially, I aim to provide you a safe space to process how your feeling while also acting as a mirror for you. This way, you can build awareness of yourself and your patterns, which unlocks your unique ability to make change.
I use CBT techniques help you understand how you think, so that you can make changes to your patterns and thought processes to feel happier, less anxious, and more in control. I also find CBT techniques helpful in setting and completing goals. I often use CBT techniques with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, OCD, adjustment, and difficulty completing goals/tasks.
Positive Psychology helps you identify and embrace your strengths in order to make changes. From a place of our own unique strengths, we can learn to become more hopeful, empathetic, and develop a healthier, growth-focused mindset.
