Hello there, thanks for spending the time to get to know me as a Therapist. I would like first to welcome you to this interesting journey of getting to know yourself deeply and possibly understand the world around you. First, I explore you, the problem you are facing, your environment, and your past to understand better what is going on. So, be aware, I will take some time on that. I especially want you to feel heard and understood first, to be in the same page before we move on to the next step. I was told to be very approachable and easy to talk to, even when I point out inconsistencies for us to gain broader insight into your situation. Over the years of experience, I have learned that each of my clients brings a different theory that needs to be treated case by case. I use several different approaches and orientations, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Bowen Therapy, and Structural Therapy among many others. I have treated adolescents, women, men, couples, and families, and I have been treated at different severity levels. I have been successful in bringing out the best of you once you find your personal goals and place in life. Overall, I am open to your needs and preferences in treatment plan and interventions, as long as it brings you back to your functioning and high performance.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Clients will expect that I will be conducting an evaluation and will be exploring their ultimate goals and will be discussing treatment options.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I am most experienced in helping victims of abuse, helpless, hopeless and severe cases. I have been having also a great amount of experience and effectiveness in couples counseling and family restructuring.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Women, Men, Couples, Families, Adolescents. I have been able to help couples understanding underlining issues in their relationship issues. I am also experienced and successful at dealing with severely depressed partners due to divorce and separation.
Christian Counseling
When I refer Christian Counseling in my treatment method choice, I don't mean that I bring Spirituality into my Counseling sessions, rather, I let you bring your own whenever you choose. Many of my clients on other Agencies look specifically for Christian Counselors and they sometimes don't know where to find them. That is the reason I choose to include here in this section since I am familiar with Christian Lifestyles and how they play a role in Marriage and Family and personal struggles.
Couples Counseling
The treatment consists in two parts, the theory and practice. First, I explored issues in order to understand the root of the problem and reflect to bring awareness. The second part is equally challenging and important: to practice strategies and facilitate change. Couples vary from many issues, but common factor is communication and intimacy difficulties. I focus on developing three major steps to improve communication in couples such as "develop consideration, develop ability to compromise and to assist them to apply the therapeutic gains". Each stage, the partners gain personal awareness of many instances they lost ability to listen/understand/perceive each other. I facilitate practice of assertive communication and listening strategies in order to develop clear understanding from each other. Second stage, I assist couples in compromising/respect values, needs and preferences (sometimes with a gentle confrontation) in order to bring fairness in decision making. Lastly, I facilitate them put in practice of compromises they made. I also help couples in restoring intimacy by using Cognitive Behavioral Approach in challenging couples in their perception of each other, themselves and their relationship. Couples are encouraged to discuss many factors (self-regulating difficulties, past traumas, difficulty adjusting, vices, attachment style) in sessions in order to raise awareness of self and the other, contributing to their grow personally and relationally.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Overall, I use many different approaches and methods, but often times Cognitive Behavioral is the catalyst from my practices. Changing client's perceptions by challenging thoughts and pre conceit ideas and schemas, are the most effective tool I use in many of my client's cases.
