Hello, my name is Jalia. I am a doctorally-prepared (DNP), board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and a Family Nurse Practitioner. I have dual master’s degrees in nursing and social work. I completed my education at some of the best universities - the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Samuel Merritt University (SMU). With a holistic approach, I assess, diagnose and treat Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Depression, Anxiety, Substance use disorders and Trauma/PTSD. My experience is with Transitional Age Youths (TAYs) ages 16- 28, adults < 65, as well as parents and caregivers of clients who suffer from psychiatric disorders. My areas of research include Adverse Childhood Events (ACEs) and psychiatric disorders, chronic medical conditions and substance use disorders; Maternal Substance use and genetic psychiatric illnesses; Restorative Justice in mental health; Herbal Medicine in psychiatry; Relapse Prevention in people with chronic mental illness.
