Hi! My name is Wendy and I have been working in the Social Work field for well over 20 years. I started in the world of substance use/abuse assessment and treatment. I earned my master's degree in Social Work from Cal State Los Angeles in 2010 and have been working as a therapist since 2011. I have worked with kids, up to age 16, in foster care. I've worked with school-aged children with developmental disabilities, coordinating services for them and their families. I became Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in 2017 and have been working with formerly homeless military veterans. I do everything from provide therapy, help them through the housing screening process, helping them gather and complete documents, getting their new homes set up with utilities and furniture and just setting them up to be successful in independent living.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, you can expect to just chat about who you are and the areas that you think I could best serve you in. You can expect me to ask questions about who You are and what makes you, You, including all the systems at play in your world.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength is my ability to empathize with clients. This helps me to actually put myself "in your shoes" so I can get a small glimpse of what the world looks like from their view.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

The wide gamut of populations and age groups I have served throughout my career has prepared me to serve children as young as 6 years old to mature adults as young as 80 years of age.

My treatment methods

Humanistic

I use a combination of person-centered and humanistic approach to therapy. I am also certified in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Seeking Safety, Managing and Adapting Practices (MAP) Therapy, am a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional, as well as a Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional; who incorporates bits of each modality into my sessions. I practice, fully aware that there is no "One Size Fits All" in therapy. I will meet you where you are, and stay there as long as you're there. During sessions with me, you will do most of the talking, as it is your session. I will never judge what you say/do or any behaviors you may or may not engage in. I am simply here to be a sounding board for your experiences and emotions. My goal for therapy is to provide a safe space for you to explore and express your feelings in. I would like to remind you that you are a very valuable individual, who is worthy of love and compassion, especially from yourself! As your therapist it is my duty to support, guide, and structure your sessions to help you discover solutions to the problems you're facing and therefore empower you with knowing that you are capable, and you are an overcomer.
