I well understand that life can be complicated, unpredictable, and overwhelming at times. The pressures and demands can be chaotic and make one feel confused, anxious, unsure , inadequate or stuck. I like to think that Therapy is a gift to the self. I make every effort to provide a safe non judgmental space where trust, and respect are built, where one can connect with feelings, limiting beliefs and behaviors that are not serving them well as they gain insight and perspective. Through the use of an eclectic approach together we will tap into your inner resources so that you can discover the power that lies within you. By becoming more aware of your strengths and potential, you can create positive change and improve your life as you become the narrator of your hopes and dreams and not let life just happen.
During our first session I let Clients know that I well understand that it is not easy to come and ask for help or to be vulnerable. I let them know that it is my belief that therapy is a gift to the self and that it takes courage and commitment. We often have a brief conversations about what brings them to therapy at this point in time and then touch upon the specific challenges that they may be facing so that there is a better understanding of what their needs and goals so that together we can create a plan to address and work through issues that may be causing them distress or are not serving them well.
Having worked with individuals from all walks of life for the past 33 years, I have developed a tried-and-true approach for helping clients better understand and honor themselves, identify the root cause of their challenges and create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress. As a provider I let my Clients know that as they change their thoughts they can change their lives, and that they do not have to do it alone. I help Clients discover the power within themselves as it can be greater than the fear before them.
I love working with individuals from all walks of life who feel that they are stuck have lost their way, are inadequate, or simply overwhelmed by the pressures and demands of daily life. My clients want to improve, but don't have the tools or vision needed to make this goal a reality. They are anxious about their careers, relationships, how they view themselves or how others see them. With practice I help clients learn how to prepare for life's many challenges by developing resilience, self compassion and healthy coping strategies.
Psychodynamic
I utilize an eclectic approach that incorporate Psychodynamic Theory with the goal for Clients to become more self aware and understand the impact of the past on present behavior.
Attachment-based
Together we explore early attachment experiences, relationships and connections with caregivers in an effort to uncover how these experiences may impact ones current relationships and emotional functioning. This often involves conversations that revolve around childhood relationships, family dynamics, and significant life events that contribute to the shaping of ones social, emotional and cognitive development.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
The goal of Solution Focused Therapy is to shift the focus of therapy from problems to solutions. I encourage clients to identify their goals, strengths, and resources, instead than dwelling on their difficulties. Sessions focus on what Clients hope to achieve or what positive changes they notice as they reflect and become aware of the power within themselves.
