(she/her)
Hi! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Colorado. I am also licensed in California and Maryland. I received my Masters from the University of Southern California and have been practicing for 7 years. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and young adults in a variety of family forms that have experienced some difficulties in their lives.
Our first session together will focus on building a comfortable connection and understanding your needs. We'll take our time getting to know each other and exploring what you hope to gain from therapy. My goal is to create a safe space where you can share your experiences and work towards your goals.
My greatest strengths lie in building strong, trusting relationships with young people. With seven years of experience, I've developed a knack for creating comfortable and supportive therapy spaces where kids and teens feel safe to open up. I'm skilled at meeting young people where they're at and tailoring my approach to their individual needs.
I love working with children, adolescents, and their families. I am committed to creating safe and nurturing environment where young people can address challenges, build resilience, and develop healthy coping mechanisms.
Margaret Dougherty offers therapy covered by CalViva Health (Medi-Cal), Community Health Plan of Imperial Valley (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Net (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal), San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) and Santa Clara Family Health Plan - Medi-Cal in California.
My approach to therapy involves a humanistic understanding of people, where I view clients as a whole, rather than just the person who shows up in the room. I place great emphasis on developing a strong relationship between therapist and client, pulling from a variety of treatment methods. My goal is always to support my client’s personal growth to maximize their well-being. I understand how early experiences with caregivers impact how we operate and interact with people for the rest of our lives.
