(she/her)
Hello, my name is Minerva Guzman and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I am also bilingual in Spanish. I received my Master of Science degree in Counseling from the University of Phoenix. In my 12 years of working in the mental health field, I have worked collaboratively with my client and families on a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, co-dependency, low self-esteem/self-confidence, life transition issues, and trauma-related experiences. I have utilized a variety of techniques and tools tailed to fit the specific needs of each client throughout their treatment. I believe that my job as a therapist is to provide a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental therapeutic environment, which will allow clients to be able to speak openly and freely about their feelings. It has been my experience that when a client is given a safe therapeutic environment they can make growth and see progress at their own pace. If you feel that my therapeutic style meets your needs, I look forwards to having the opportunity to work alongside you, to assist you in navigating through your journey toward living your most authentic life.
In our first session together we will get to know each other and work on a treatment plan that meets your needs. I will allow you to share as much or as little, because I believe in allowing the client to lead their treatment. I will ask some historical questions to open up the conversation that might lead to unresolved trauma. I just want to get to know and see how my skills can assist you in your therapy journey.
The bulk of my experience has been working with children and adolescents. During my work in community mental health, I was able to work with family systems. I believe I am very strength-based and believe that the whole is greater than some of the parts. Meeting the client where they are in their journey is another one of my strengths. I am here to support your growth and follow your journey. My approach is very person-centered, you are the expert in your life I am just here to help you through your healing journey.
I specialize in child, adolescent and young adults. I am also focused on women ages 25-45. My approach is very humanistic and person centered. I allow you the client guide your treatment. I meet people where they are at. Sometimes we are further along than we think or give ourselves credit for.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I believe that everyone has the ability to change, when they are ready and will find it in them to do it.
