Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): My Experience and Approach I have extensive experience integrating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into my work with individuals, couples, and families. My approach reflects the foundational principles of CBT—collaboration, structure, and measurable change—while honoring each person’s lived experience, cultural background, and relational dynamics. In my clinical work, I use CBT to help clients identify and shift unhelpful thoughts, emotional patterns, and behaviors that contribute to distress. I emphasize psychoeducation, skill-building, and evidence-based strategies that empower clients to understand the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. This includes cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, problem-solving skills, emotion regulation techniques, and mindfulness-based CBT tools. In couples therapy, I integrate CBT with the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT). This allows me to help partners interrupt negative interaction cycles, improve communication, rebuild trust, and strengthen emotional safety. My CBT-informed couples work focuses on identifying maladaptive thinking patterns, enhancing conflict-resolution skills, and fostering compassion, understanding, and resilience in the relationship. Across all settings—including telehealth, intensive sessions, and retreat environments—I apply CBT in a trauma-responsive, culturally attuned, and integrative way. When clinically appropriate, I blend CBT with EMDR, DBT, ACT, somatic approaches, and other evidence-based modalities to support deep and sustainable healing.
Grief Therapy: My Experience and Approach I have extensive experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through grief, loss, and life transitions. My approach to grief therapy is compassionate, trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and grounded in the belief that grief is not something to “fix”—it is something to honor, witness, and gently integrate. In my work, I help clients understand the emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual dimensions of their grief. I create a safe, non-judgmental space where they can process their pain, find meaning in their experience, and reconnect with hope and resilience at their own pace. My grief therapy approach draws from CBT, EMDR, Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems, somatic practices, and mindfulness-based interventions. When clinically appropriate, I use EMDR and accelerated resolution therapies to help clients process traumatic or complicated losses, including anticipatory grief, sudden loss, and unresolved grief stored in the body. With couples and families, I help loved ones grieve together—strengthening communication, supporting emotional regulation, and facilitating healing conversations that build connection rather than distance. I also integrate expressive and experiential methods such as journaling, narrative work, ritual, creative arts, movement, and nature-based practices to help clients express emotions that may be difficult to put into words. Whether someone is mourning a loved one, grieving a past version of themselves, navigating divorce or relationship transitions, coping with chronic illness, or facing identity and life changes, I walk alongside them with compassion and deep respect. My goal is to offer tools, presence, and support as they move toward healing, meaning-making, and renewed connection with their own life story.
Couples Therapy: My Experience and Approach I specialize in couples therapy and am deeply passionate about helping partners strengthen their connection, repair emotional injuries, and build relationships rooted in trust, intimacy, and shared purpose. My approach is integrative, evidence-based, and grounded in compassion, cultural sensitivity, and respect for the unique story every couple brings. In my work, I draw from the Gottman Method (Level 3), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), EMDR, Attachment Theory, Family Systems, and trauma-informed practices. This combination allows me to help partners understand and change negative interaction cycles, improve communication, and develop emotional safety. I support couples in identifying core patterns, unmet needs, and attachment injuries that may be contributing to conflict or disconnection. Together, we explore how past experiences and relational wounds show up in the present, and we build tools that promote empathy, resilience, and healthier ways of relating. When clinically appropriate, I integrate EMDR to address trauma that impacts the relationship—whether it stems from childhood, previous relationships, or within the couple’s own shared history. This helps partners process difficult experiences, reduce reactivity, and create space for deeper connection. My work with couples includes strengthening friendship and intimacy, improving conflict-resolution skills, rebuilding trust after betrayals, navigating parenting or blended-family challenges, and supporting major life transitions. I also incorporate mindfulness, somatic awareness, and experiential exercises to help partners reconnect emotionally and physically. My goal is to help couples feel seen, supported, and empowered as they create new patterns of connection—so they can build a relationship that feels safe, meaningful, and alive.
