I am a firm believer that nothing is permanent and that everyone is capable of growth and changing the way they function. The past has undoubtedly changed us but it does not define us. I have worked in mental health for 10 years and enjoy getting to know each individual and their specific needs and goals. I have a passion for assisting people with identifying the way their current actions, thoughts and situations have been shaped by their life experiences and helping to improve those actions and thoughts. Taking the first step is scary but success is attainable and I would be honored to assist you in reaching your goals and living a more fulfilling life.
I believe that the key to a successful therapeutic relationship is compassion, empathy, and natural communication. My therapeutic approach is individualized to each patient and their specific goals and needs and I utilize a variety of evidence-based interventions. We will work through the past and present and develop skills and insights that will make for a better future. Therapy should always feel like a safe and supportive space. Therapy is truly a collaborative process and we both bring different skills and perspectives to situations.
I implement a variety of treatment modalities in sessions including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, strengths-based therapy and attachment style therapy. I believe that every individual has strengths and both internal and external strengths we can use to target problematic behaviors and improve functioning. Gaining insight into patterns and our past sets us up for success in the present and future.
I feel that my biggest strength is assisting clients in identifying the root causes of the way we process information and act in situations. I enjoy assisting people in really breaking down where problematic or unhealthy coping skills have come from, what purpose they serve, and ways that we can develop better responses to situations. I pride myself on creating a safe and supportive environment where we can discuss difficult subjects.
