Hello, my name is NP Nkem. I am a passionate Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 10+ years of experience in the healthcare/ public health field. First, I create a nonjudgmental and safe environment to form rapport. Letting patient take charge of their mental health by providing information that enables informed decisions. Then assess mental health needs of individuals, Develop healthcare plans, implement treatment and evaluate the treatment's effectiveness and progress.
I also, I use pharmacogenomic test that analyzes a patient's DNA to determine how they may metabolize and respond to certain psychiatric medications.
First session
I take holistic approach toward making sure Patient’s mental health needs are met. First visit is about getting to know clients . So, we will talk about patient’s symptoms /mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social health.
Strengths
I understand how resilient the human spirit can be, as it can overcome so many challenges of the past and create the life they want to live. I am also passionate about the benefits of initiating psychotropic medications if needed. I collaborate with the patient to develop a treatment plan that will achieve the expected health outcome. Medications are chosen based on the brain chemistry we are targeting. I also use a pharmacogenomic test that analyzes a patient's DNA to determine how they may metabolize and respond to certain psychiatric medications. I also offer an ADHD computerized test to make sure diagnoses of ADHD are accurate.
