I am a Doctoral prepared Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner. I specialize in diagnosing and treating Depression, Anxiety, Mood swings, Chronic irritability, hallucinations, obsessive-compulsive disorders, suicidal thoughts, substance abuse and other chronic health conditions using medications and education. I will help you overcome the obstacles that are preventing you from living well and achieving your dreams of being normal again. I utilize tools such as health education, psychoeducation, psychotherapy, emotional and social support to help you along the journey of your mental and general health. Psychoeducation will help you to know how to manage your mental health condition along with other medical conditions. Education can provide the skills and support to enrich the journey towards your overall recovery and wellness. With the knowledge of your condition that you will learn from my practice through psycho and health education, you will be able to identify your goals for wellness and lifestyle. We will work together to come up with a treatment plan that is suitable for you. You will be able to discover the root of your problem and build your confidence back again. I do not believe in medications as the only treatment, but I will show you other ways to achieve mental and overall wellness. I strongly believe that mental health completes a whole being.
During you first session with me, I will get to know you better and get acquainted with the symptoms you present to me. I may order labs and also request for documents from your primary doctor. We will talk about medications and plan towards prescribing during subsequent visits.
I see myself as a problem solver. My knowledge and experience in mental health has given me the capability to see my patient’s situation from different perspectives. I have come to realize that mental health is part of a whole being, and a person is not complete without it. I enjoy teaching and learning. My joy is complete when I see the output of my education well utilized in my patient population. I also enjoy serving the underserved population.

While I was on the journey to find the provider that fits me best, Dr. Angel was one of the first ones that I found on Grow Therapy and she’s just wonderful. Our first conversation ended off with giving me a peace. At this point, I’m very grateful that I have her in my life helping me get through my struggles, but don’t take my word for it. I appreciated Dr. Angel Nwochie’s thoroughness into my health history. She asked questions and listened to answers.
