Hello, I'm Julie Addison. I come to you with 25+ years of mental health experience. We all need support sometimes and I am happy to help to strive to collaborate with you to determine where you want to go. I'm anchored from a strength based model, which focuses on your talents or innate, best parts of who you are versus a negative side yourself (looking at you, Instagram). In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Let's figure out what your strengths and needs are and take it from there. I am present to help you wherever you are coming from to ensure that we are a good fit. You can expect an honest assessment and honest compassion. I am interested in your area of change and how we can collaborate to find the best way path forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I'm a real person. I struggle with the challenges and realities of life (as we all do) which is a natural condition. I strive to keep a constructive, positive attitude and exemplify such with clients, colleagues, family and friends. Truth be told, I can be a little quirky and strongly believe in humor in this process. As stated before, I want to focus on your strengths and build forward as our past or current conflicts, hardships or fears do not have to define us.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I appreciate and serve people from many, many, backgrounds (which I love). I cannot identify a specific client group but appreciate clients who are a bit stuck in their thinking, grapple with day to day frustrations, dealing with trauma or those who just want to improve daily functioning. My specialty is teens and young adults.

Motivational Interviewing

Sometimes people are not sure about their stance in the growth process. Motivational therapy allows an individual to identify their stage of change and move towards the healing process via collaboration. This approach emphasizes autonomy and action. I find that this approach is most successful when individuals are ambivalent about change or just not sure where to start to begin to realize their potential.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approach is literally a reality check! I will utilize this approach to assist you in understanding how your thoughts and how you talk to yourself impact your mood. This approach is helpful for many different challenges, especially depression and anxiety. I have been extensively trained in the approach and will guide you towards shifting negative or distorted thoughts to more affirming belief systems to help you grow and achieve overall life satisfaction.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I like to use this approach to treat a variety of challenges from anxiety to depression and just feeling "stuck". SFBT is a straight ahead, goal directed approach that focuses on strengths and solutions rather than overarching problems. I will assist you in finding your solutions to thorny issues and help you to create practical pathway forwards.

Julie has always been so welcoming and warm! I felt so comfortable to immediately open up to help me on my growth journey.
