Hello, my name is Gloria Gonzales, I am a bilingual/bicultural licensed psychotherapist, with three adult grown children. My experience is working with individuals, families, co-parents, and couples since 2011. I have also had the opportunity to work as an adjunct professor teaching Clinical Psychology, to Master Level students. My hope is to help you heal and live an abundant life filled with happiness. I don't believe there is anyone who has had a perfect life, however our trials and mishaps can also give us wisdom as we go through life. Everyday is an opportunity to learn, heal & change!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first initial session we both will have the opportunity to meet and answer any questions. In addition, I will be going through the forms sent to you & discussing informed consent, confidentiality, and discussing the treatment process. You will have the opportunity to explore the challenges you would like to focus on, along with a treatment plan. I am happy to schedule an office or Teletherapy session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a licensed psychotherapist are being able to connect with my client's, building a trusting therapeutic relationship, a reflective listener, and validating their experiences. I am also empathetic & compassionate which allows me to connect with clients by helping them to solve their own challenges.

My treatment methods

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a bilingual/bicultural psychotherapist it is important we understand how cultural beliefs along with past generational trauma can impact our relationships and identity. Utilizing a contextual and developmental approach, I explore the cultural and social factors that may contribute to mental health problems affecting you.

Attachment-based

In attachment therapy we will be focusing on the type of attachment one developed with their caregiver; this will influence a person's life and their relationships with others. We will be exploring past and current relational attachments. Together we will explore and gain awareness of emotional patterns and assist in improving the quality of attachment with others.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

The goal is to support family strengths and relationships by helping families heal and grow while respecting family and cultural values. The goal is to help children express their feelings through play, strengthen parent-child relationship, and help the parents understand their child's experiences and behaviors.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In CBT therapy, patients learn to recognize negative patterns of thought, evaluate their validity, and replace them with healthier ways of thinking, and cope with stressors in a constructive manner.

Couples Counseling

Every relationship has their challenges. You may feel stuck in a pattern of conflict and not feeling heard. Effective couples therapy requires the participation of both partners. Couples counseling can be successful with the help of Emotionally Focused Therapy. In couples therapy you'll learn conflict resolution skills, improve communication skills, identify destructive patterns and behaviors, and strengthen the quality of your relationship.
