LMFT, 7 years of experience
Hi, I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 7 years of experience in the field; supporting children, teenagers and adults in helping them find clarity and understanding into their thoughts, feelings, behaviors and relational patterns. It is so hard to navigate conflict within ourselves and within our relationships when we feel helpless, stuck or confused. More often than not, we were not taught effective communication skills and how to process negative feelings/experiences. Without insight and tools to help us emotionally regulate and heal from the past, it is to hard break away from negative cycles or negative generational patterns. The road to improving one's depression, anxiety or relationships doesn't have to be done alone. It is my passion to help work with individuals and families towards a path of healing from the past and create healthier relationship with self and others.
In the first session, I introduce myself and give information on my professional background. I encourage you to ask questions you might have about my background, or/and therapy treatment. Together we will identify your concerns and the challenges you have been experiencing. We will discuss a plan that can lead you toward your goal that makes you feel comfortable and hopeful.
I have worked with individuals and families who have struggled with ongoing conflict and are unable to meet the needs of each other or themselves. I am able to provide a safe environment in which each member or individual is being heard, and can navigate conflict in which there are strong feelings and thoughts about it. My strength is identifying patterns and being able to make sense out of conflict, while building each person up to taking steps toward communicating from a place of clarity.
I work with individuals, couples, and families who are looking to heal from childhood wounds and repair their relationships. Often depression and anxiety are impacting how they respond in their relationships and are wanting to change but don't know what to do.
I blend various therapeutic approaches which includes, psychodynamic, trauma informed care and cognitive behavioral therapy. I find that the psychodynamic approach supports people in gaining insight into how their past has affected their current experience. This insight encourages one to view their own challenges from a place of self-compassion rather than self-judgement. I have seen people find hope in trauma-informed care because it provides the education needed into gaining insight into their trigger responses (angry outbursts, depressed, anxious, etc.), and empowers them with coping skills to bring themselves into a calmer state. I use cognitive behavioral therapy to assist in putting change into action that honors their emotions and needs while creating healthier thinking patterns and relationships.
