Welcome! As a licensed therapist I am continually inspired by witnessing clients make sense of difficult life experiences, past or present. Maybe this is a starting point for you and you are new to therapy, or recommitting to therapy after a break. Perhaps mental health issues (like depression or anxiety) were not discussed in the family or community in which you grew up, or you have had difficulty reaching out for help for other reasons. Sometimes what holds people back from seeking help is self judgment (‘I should be able to handle this’), or fear that things won’t improve. You are certainly not alone, help is available, and change is possible.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I specialize in working with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, panic, or trauma symptoms. I have extensive experience providing therapy using evidence based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), while drawing from traditional in depth therapy approaches. I have specific experience working with adoptive families and adoptees. I am passionate about supporting others in building the kind of life they want, even when it can feel out of reach. This passion began with a career organizing for social and economic justice, and 15+ years of working with foster youth and adoptive families as a social worker. This foundation shows up in my work as a therapist - I tend to be collaborative, active and attuned to the ways that social inequities can impact mental health.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

We will work together to develop a clear plan for achieving the change you want to see. The pace of the work will depend on many variables, but for clients who are committed to the process, and able to apply skills learned in session to their outside lives, change can often be felt quickly. My approach is eclectic and includes evidence based treatments such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), informed by depth oriented approaches (psychoanalytic / attachment theory), and grounded in mindfulness.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My approach is compassionate and non-judgmental, with a goal of creating a safe space for you to get the support you want and deserve. Please reach out if you think I may be of help.
