Hi, my name is Tony Xiong. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. My passion has always been to help people heal and find inner peace. For some, this might mean having to work through a difficult past so it stops haunting them in their present life. For others, it's just having someone to talk to and unload the heaviness of daily living.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

First time meeting anyone can always be anxiety inducing. No worries. That's super normal. Our first session will be a lot of just getting to you know you and the things that have lead your path to cross with mine. There will be a lot of questions about what's going on currently, some historical questions, and some opportunities for you to ask me about myself. Often time, if it's the first time you've ever been to therapy, I will share with you information on what a therapy session will look like and interventions used.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Before any degree/licensing/trainings/titles, I am a human being and have many life experiences (good and bad) and many years of experience helping those in need. My passion has always been in the helping profession, serving those in need.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief & loss, trauma, or just needing to figure out what to do with your life, I'm here, and I am ready to listen and help. Imagine yourself as the driver on this mental wellness journey, and I'm your passenger. Together, we'll explore the iconic landmarks of your life: the ones you enjoy revisiting, and even the ones you might have closed off. On this journey, we might create new roads, and there might be some that need repairing. You never have to travel alone. I can help.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps you to understand the relationship between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and how this all impacts our overall mental health. In therapy, we'll bring awareness to how we see things/how we think, can negatively impact the way we feel and influence the way we behave. Awareness to our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors allows us to then recognize when we being triggered, understand the origins of these thought/behavioral patterns, and eventually, working on healthy ways to manage our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

Daialectical Behavior (DBT)

Like CBT, DBT involves awareness of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, but it's emphasis is more on regulating strong negative emotions, through mindfulness exercises, distress tolerance, effective communication, etc.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a psychotherapy technique/intervention that helps a person process strong negative/traumatic experiences through rhythmic eye movements. EMDR helps to desensitize (to make the trauma memory less sensitive/intense) and reprocess (replacing strong negative thoughts with more positive ones). I've been trained and have over 2 years of experience using EMDR to help my clients process very traumatic childhood experiences that continue to haunt them in their present life. It's not only been helpful in resolving strong emotions tied to their trauma, but also healing the body's memory of the trauma.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is an intervention to empower people to change by drawing out their own meaning, importance and capacity for change. I've used Motivational Interviewing to help my clients understand their own problems, their barriers, and facilitate change in a manner congruent with their own values, ability, and momentum.
