Hi there, my name is Miguel Soltero. I am practicing Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been a mental health practitioner for 8 years and attended the University of Southern California (USC), earning a Master's of Social Work. I have experience working with a range of groups including children, youth, young and older adults. I have experience treating addiction, anxiety, mood and psychotic disorders.
During the first session, I’ll ask you questions about your family of origin, relationships, coping skills, your goals for treatment and any past history with therapy. My aim is to get to know you and understand the root of your core issues and treatment goals. If you are new to therapy, we’ll take time to shed light on your feelings toward this new practice and any questions you may have about the process.
I incorporate attachment and systems frameworks to help you identify connections, how you see yourself and others, and the narrative you carry about yourself, your loved ones, and the world. I take into account your past and current environment, your strengths, aspirations, and limitations. When working, I use the time to meet clients where they are in the moment emotionally. I use this approach to set the stage for safety, vulnerability, and reflection. Clients have suggested they have felt challenged, motivated, and safe with me due to the understanding and transparency shared.
I work well with those who are motivated and are willing to explore opportunities within themselves to accept and work on their areas of growth.
Miguel Soltero offers therapy covered by Central California Alliance for Health (Medi-Cal), Gold Coast Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Health Plan of San Joaquin - Medi-Cal, L.A. Care Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Orange County Mental Health Plan (Medi-Cal), Partnership HealthPlan of California (Medi-Cal) and San Francisco Health Plan (Medi-Cal) in California.
In each session, I take into account the impact of trauma history and its impact on feelings of safety, resiliency, emotional regulation and vulnerability. My stance is to create a space of safety and trust, compassion, and reflection to encourage empowerment and healing.
I help clients gain understanding on attachment styles and the relationships they create and maintain with themselves and others in order to help clients identify areas of growth related to trauma, communication, family conflict, substance use, depression and anxiety.
I find that providing education on symptoms, behavioral patterns, and adaptive coping skills can lead to inner growth, resiliency, and meaningful ways to regulate stressors and hardships related to mental health and emotional distress.
