Aloha! My name is Ben. I was born and raised on O‘ahu, Hawai'i by immigrant parents in a multicultural, multigenerational household where emotions and mental health were rarely talked about. Growing up, I learned how easy it is to carry stress, pain, and difficult experiences in silence. I also learned how exhausting it can be to appear okay on the outside while struggling on the inside. I help people who feel stuck in patterns of overthinking, people-pleasing, self-doubt, and unhealthy relationships. Many of the people I work with are tired of putting everyone else's needs before their own, struggling to set boundaries without guilt, and feeling disconnected from who they are beneath the expectations of others. I also help people make sense of how past experiences continue to show up in their present lives, whether that's in their relationships, self-worth, body image, or ability to trust themselves. Together, we will explore the patterns that keep you feeling stuck and work toward creating a stronger sense of self, healthier relationships, and a life that feels more authentic and aligned with who you are. I understand that reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you've spent much of your life handling things on your own. My goal is to create a space where you feel seen, heard, and accepted without judgment—a space where you can show up as your authentic self and begin the process of healing, growth, and self-discovery.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session we will go over confidentiality, informed consent, and questionnaires. We will then begin exploring reason you have decided to take this step in your life to choose you, challenges you are currently facing, and begin working on goals you hope to work towards. We will work collaboratively together in this process to help support you move forward in this journey of healing and self-understanding.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I understand how cultural values, family expectations, trauma, and stigma around mental health can influence the way we see ourselves, build unhealthy relationships and view seeking support as a weakness. My approach is simple, I am here to connect with you where you are currently at in your life. What makes my work unique is the balance between exploring the deeper roots of your struggles and helping you create meaningful change in the present.

I will support you in building healthier relationship patterns, increasing your emotional security, and develop a stronger self-awareness within a safe and supportive space.

Trauma Informed Care prioritizes your safety, building trust, and collaborating together to empower you throughout the therapeutic process. I recognize the lasting impact trauma can have on ones emotions, relationships, and the nervous system, and I will work with you at your own pace that feels supportive while helping you build emotional resilience.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic Therapy focuses on helping you to explore unconscious patterns, past experiences, and unresolved emotions that may be contributing to your current struggles.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-Based Therapy helps you to become more aware of the present moment in your life, through your thoughts, emotions, and physical responses. This will create a space to help you feel more grounded and improve emotional regulation.
