I am deeply compassionate about and specialize in tailoring treatment plans for ALL individuals living with emotional and physical pain. Chronic pain and chronic emotional distress often becomes the creator of a host of other problems, such as increased anxiety, depression, insomnia, and worsening medical diagnoses (e.g., diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc). I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in the relationship between the mind and body, and I want to share powerful, biopsychosocial approaches and interventions for increasing the quality of your life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session I will collect information from you in order to understand the specific context of your life, and provide appropriate assessments to begin discovering the ways I can be the most valuable for you during the course of our time together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In order to provide the most effective care for individuals living with emotional and physical pain, it is important to ensure that the clinician providing treatment has been adequately trained in mind-body modalities and specialties. One of my greatest strengths as a provider is how I have focused on how to be effective for folks living with chronic emotional and physical pain, including different hospital and primary care training sites during my doctoral program, and being trained at a CA hospital pain management clinic for my post-doctoral fellowship. An additional strength would be my level of empathy and connection with those who are suffering in physical and emotional pain, including being thoroughly familiar with many of the obstacles that folks have to face every day, which often goes unnoticed and misunderstood.

My treatment methods

Hypnotherapy

I have training and supervision from established medical and psychological clinicians who use hypnotherapy as a successful inclusion of their patients' treatment plan. Although I tailor treatment to each patient's needs, I typically include hypnotherapy as a way of engaging, developing a new relationship to, and regaining control of the body throughout the course of treatment.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

This approach has had the most success with folks that I've worked with, as it focuses on what is important to the individual patient, and less on what is important to the psychologist. It allows for the most effective interventions and tailoring of treatment plans during our sessions together.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Using Mindfulness-based techniques can help maintain an awareness of the parts of our thoughts and behaviors that may be adding to our presenting issues. This continued insight into one's own processes and automaticity has proved to be a valuable asset during courses of therapy.
