(she/her)
Welcome. Welcome. Welcome. I think of myself as a welcoming therapist. I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. I will do my best to come along side you and "walk a mile in your shoes." It is such an honor and a privilege to walk beside people on their journey toward wholeness. I will listen to you and endeavor to identify unhealthy patterns that may be causing distress in your life. We all have blind spots where we struggle to see ourselves. I will be a mirror, of sorts, who will reflect a truer image of who you are hopefully quiet some of those negative thoughts. I am so excited to start this journey with you. Come on in and let's get started.
During our first session we will simply get to know one another to see if we truly are a good fit. We will discuss some of my philosophy and goals for therapy for all of my clients. I will ask questions to hear your story and what brings you into therapy. We will discuss some of your goals and areas where you hope to grow. Together, we will begin to form a treatment plan. During this first meeting, you will also be interviewing me in order to decide if I am a good fit for you - if I am the therapist you are looking for for this part of your journey. Meeting a new person for the first time can produce anxiety in most of us, add to that mix that this person is someone you hope to be able to trust with secrets, well, it can be uncomfortable. I will do my best to put you at ease as we begin our journey together.
I think my greatest strength as a therapist is my desire to know you deeply and being given the grace to accept you right where you are. I believe in God and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. As a Christian, I believe I am called to love people as God loves them, to accept people as God accepts them, and to walk side by side with people through this journey as we learn who we were made to be and become who we are meant to become. I guess I am saying that my strength is being given the grace to be able to see the potential in each person.
Do you long to belong to yourself? To know yourself? To accept yourself fully as you are? Do you long to grow and heal and have authentic relationships? Then we can do some great work together. I'm not trying to help anyone "change." I am looking for clients who want to grow more into who they really are and to stop fighting with themselves to be someone else. So much of our misery as humans comes from trying to measure up or trying to be who we think someone else wants us to be. The best gift we can give the world us to live as our authentic selves. You have so much to offer just as you are. I believe we never "arrive," but we do keep growing and becoming more of who we are throughout every stage of our life. So if you are looking to grow into your true self, I'd be honored to join you on that journey.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I have used a person-centered approach to therapy for 12 years. I believe that you are the expert on your life. Together we will work to plan a strategy that fits your lifestyle and goals and challenges you to grow and heal.
Christian Counseling
I began unofficial Christian counseling 45 years ago as friends came to me for prayer and counsel. I now practice Holy Spirit-led and Biblically-based therapy in order to assist you in drawing closer to God and working out your salvation as Christ is formed in you.
