I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Autism Specialist in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Owner of Aurora Behavioral Health Services. I received my Masters degree from Liberty University, which included a Christian perspective for clients who choose. My training is in Crisis and trauma as well as the Neurodiverse population. I have experience working with individuals in various settings including schools, homes, office and virtually between the ages of 3 and 65. While I am only available virtually, I have had much success with virtual sessions and maintaining even the younger population engaged.
Don't worry, the first session is a breeze! I get to know you, and you get to know me. We review expectations, goals you may already have established, and we identify some calming techniques or coping skills that you may be able to begin implementing. If you are ready to dive, we can do that as well. It's your session, you can make the call.
I am adaptable and patient. The sessions are about the individual and if I expect that person to be flexible and open and willing to work, I believe I must also be professionally flexible and understanding to the individuals needs to best guide treatment. It's not my session, it's yours and I respect that growth and progress vary in each individual.
Individuals who are ready to commit time, perhaps uncertain about what you will work on or how to start, but you are ready to commit. Client ready to jump in or who may start off unsure about therapy, but open to taking the steps and eventually owning their sessions. You may be a parent looking for ways to improve your parenting skills, an employee looking to manage work stress or peer stress, someone who has experienced some hard times or has been in rocky relationships and want to work through it, a teen who needs help navigating these high school years, or a little one who needs help managing their emotions, I am here to help and support you.
While we all know that all clients are different, as an individual we all have our moods, our days, and our moments that can change how we go about dealing with situations. My experience is that these factors impact the session and treatment method. In order to have successful sessions, I believe I must be flexible in my approach and open to various methods to accommodate my client and help them reach their goals.
